AutoWeek looking for G35 (sedan) owners
by dwynne on Tue Nov 20 15:54:29 PST 2007
Hey, we may see your name in print! Infiniti G35 (sedan) We need to know when you bought it, what you paid, your opinions (positive and negative) and other vehicles you considered. Include your mailing address, phone number and vehicle identification number (VIN). Mail your responses to AutoWeek, 1155 Gratiot Ave., Detroit, MI 48207, or e-mail autofile@crain.com. You may also fax to (313) 446-1027. I think they usually want to hear from owners of the current or prior model year (this time of year) that have had the car < 1 year. Dennis
Re: Outlook Price - Kevin's response

Based on a $43K Outlook, from what I looked up a similar optioned Pilot would be about $37K. I think the article is indicating that it was the intention of Saturn to match the Outlook against the Pilot, but because it overshot its price, the Outlook is not in the price range of an MDX instead of the Pilot. Maybe the GMC version will have a more competitive starting price. "Well, if you overshoot your target you've aimed too high. That's the meaning...price isn't even in discussion at that point of the story. It's about beating the current Pilot. If anyone is still confused have them keep reading the paragraph. It says this is good because GM is, for once, leading rather than behind the "moving target" that is Honda. I really don't know how anyone got confused if they read the entire piece rather than a sentence or two. No, it's not overpriced. Yes, it is better than the current Pilot, a good thing for GM because we expect a new Pilot in the not too distant future." Kevin A. Mike, I see on the 300 Club board that you are listing me as scott1096, it's scott1094. That comes from my first ten second run in my old 70 Dudter 340 at Milan Dragway. I am still a go for the Auburn Hills briefing and the cruise on Saturday meeting at your hotel before 9 a.m. I expect that I will join the 300 club when I meet with you guys or would that be wrong? We have the Central Gratiot Cruise this weekend then a week off to prepare for Woodward. Just finished the Telegraph Cruise and we still have the North Gratiot and the Harper Cruise to go. Scott

I'm beginning to wonder if Chevy's Japanese competitors have put a few people on retainer to disparage their competition. Ok, so someone buys a Toyota. Or a Honda. Or whatever. I fail to see what motivates someone to continue to post on a board that concerns itself with a car he doesn't own. I'm thinking that once I make my next auto purchase, I'll probably post some comments about my experiences with my new car, or perhaps write about what I considered in making my purchase decision. I may even feel compelled to write a few comments about positive/negative experiences I've had with my new purchase (given I were to have these experiences) on message boards of autos other than that which I own. I have ("have" in italics) posted my impressions of the '04 Malibu based on a test drive, but until I actually purchase a Malibu, or a Honda, or a Toyota, or whatever- my comments will be limited. Having said that, it seems there's one area where no competitor, domestic or foreign, touches the Malibu V-6: real world fuel mileage (within its class). I think fuel mileage will become more and more of a factor as China and India increasingly become the world's new gluttons for the world's petro resources. One last mention. Autoweek's May 10th issue has a short "Driver's Log" about the Maxx, one of the associate editors liking it, the other less enthusiastic- "The steering is so utterly artificial it leaves me wondering if any of GM's fine validation engineers ever got near it." From what I've read, it seems his opinion may put him among the minority. In any case, Autoweek is soliciting owners' opinions of the Malibu/Malibu Maxx, to be reported in a future "Autofile". They say, "We need to know when you bought it, what you paid, your opinions and other vehicles you considered. Include your mailing address, phone number, and vehicle identification number (VIN). Mail responses to AutoWeek, 1155 Gratiot Ave., Detroit MI 48207, e-mail responses to atuofile@crain.com, use the Buyers Guide link online autoweek.com or fax your respose to (313)446-1027."
That was me on M-3. Insurance.

Gratiot does ring a bell. I don't know how I ended up on it, but I headed in generally the right direction and waited to hit an interstate listed on my set of directions. I eventually made it to my appointment with a few minutes to spare. I insure 3 cars (two drivers, both over 25 etc.) on the same policy (my 99Pro is the costliest to insure at $240/6months since it's the newest, so the coll & comp is highest). Might be some discount for that too, but this agent's always been charging me less than other agents, even those from the same insurer (Allstate). I think it's because he's been in the business so long that he's willing to take less commission on new policies. Anyway, shop around, and also call different agents from the same insurer (they don't have to live near you...for instance, there are several Allstate agents physically closer to my residence, but I've stayed with mine since 1991, even as I've moved around). Rates will vary. I've found rates can vary as much as 100%, or even more. Sometimes a personal reference can help, since they may judge you partially on the company you keep. This likely doesn't apply to companies like Progressive that quotes over the phone and doesn't link you up with a specific agent. However, I've found their rates to usually be the closest when I do my annual check on insurance rates. State Farm's usually the most expensive (not counting the ones that specialize in insuring "higher-risk" drivers), in my experience.
Oh, it was mazdafun for both (re: post #15023)

So maybe I should move south of the border? To Ohio, I mean. LOL P.S. For some reason I'm thinking that MI-3 might be Gratiot Avenue? This is going to bug me until I figure it out.
