Extended Warranty
by lakeman3 on Mon Dec 10 12:22:51 PST 2007
Hello, I am new on this board-and I would appreciate immensely for some info-but this may take an Attorney-but if anyone knows-please help. 3 days ago I purchased a "used" 2008 Fit w/ 2200 miles on it. $15,900-Baby blue Sport w/ AT. Lots of accessories-I think I made a really good deal. I purchased the extended warranty from the Honda Dealership in Bentonville, Ark and I reside in Springfield, Mo-dealership here would not negotiate whatsoever and had a very small inventory. My extended warranty was for 8 years and 100,000 miles-cost $1100.00 Supposedly, some lady purchased the car, owned it 3 months, did not like the size, traded it in on a Toyota in Joplin, Mo-and the Fit ended up back on the lot in Ark. As I was going thru the papers from the glovebox-I noticed that the original owner(lady) had also bought an extended warranty. So, the Dealership in Ark sold the same Fit twice in 3 months, and sold an extended warranty twice in 3 months! Is this legal?? Why was the original extended warranty not applied to me..I am sure extended warranties are transferable. Any recource to get my 1100 bucks back?? Should I call a Lawyer?? or is this legal. I am also paranoid the dealership here in Sprld will not be very "friendly" to do any warranty work since I chose not to purchase the car or the warranty from them.

Call Bentonville - the store managers get dinged bad for customer complaints. Wal-Mart stores went union in China in 2004 - maybe that would help clean up their act in the States. :shades: Here's AutoObserver's take on the GM-UAW agreement: "GM's current labor costs are $73.26 per hour, according to the company's annual report. The cost is $25 to $30 per hour more than the labor costs of Asian rivals such as Toyota and Honda that have plants in the U.S. The creation of the VEBA could eliminate as much as one half to to two third of the gap virtually overnight." link
GLS/AWD WITH TOURING PACKAGE 33
by shc1 on Sun Mar 25 11:07:10 PDT 2007
MSRP was $28,080 plus appearance package (which I didn't want)for a total of $29,775. Included touring package, premium package, carpeted floor mats, and mud flaps, plus full tank of gas. After rebates and trade-in I paid a total of $21,693. I did the finance thing but will pay that off without penalty ASAP. The vehicle was hard to come by, as I wanted all of the above bells and whistles, but I did not want leather seats, and I had a specific color I wanted as well. The dealer searched the entire country, as most with all of the options I wanted automatically have the leather seats. My trade in was a '99 Quest, 120,000 miles, not in the best of shape. Kent Dobbs Hyundai in NW Arkansas worked very hard for me...good people. They are located in Springdale, AR, and soon will be opening another lot in Bentonville, AR. Their service department is top rated, as is their customer service.

Carmart seems to be patterning themselves after Walmart right down to the same kind of sign and lettering. A quick look on Hoovers shows that their headquarters is in Bentonville, AR so its a good bet that it is owned buy the Waltons.

"If they're still unwilling to replace your tires, take down the names of the team leader and general manager and inform them that you are going to contact the home office in Bentonville, Arkansas, to voice your dissatisfaction. You'll be surprised how quickly their attitude changes." It is amazing how many hoops some of these big box store managers will suddenly jump through when you threaten to call the corporate office. As a matter of fact, one of my buddies that was in management for one of these big box stores (won't mention which one) said that it was his company's policy that they would not offer any promotion to any manager that had had a complaint called into the corporate office for 6 months.

Dealing With Wal-Mart 101: Unless you're hearing thumping sounds at lower speeds, it seems more like a bad balance job than bad tires. Wal-Mart does have more than adequate equipment to properly balance your tires. It's just a question of who is operating it. Take your car back in one more time, not to the same store, but to the next closest Wal-Mart. Go M-F from 10am-4pm, when the "A Team" is working, not an evening or weekend when the part-timers are working, and see if they can correct the balance problem. You might want to pull the weights off with a Channel-Lock pliers beforehand to make sure they actually re-balance them and not just check them out. Don't mention that you did this of course, and act surprised when they tell you there weren't even any weights on the wheels. Rival stores love to laugh at how incompetent the crew across town is. If it still shakes, after the re-balance, take it back to the original Wal-Mart and raise hell. It's entirely possible that you got some bad Goodyears, as their quality is not what you would expect from such a revered brand. I'm a die-hard "buy American" kind of guy, but I would never waste my hard-earned money on a Goodyear tire. But that's just me. There is little love in my heart for the French, but they make a damn good tire, and when it comes to the safety of my family and performance of my vehicles, that's all I really care about. If they're still unwilling to replace your tires, take down the names of the team leader and general manager and inform them that you are going to contact the home office in Bentonville, Arkansas, to voice your dissatisfaction. You'll be surprised how quickly their attitude changes. Hope this helps. Chris
