Re: 2009 FX35 deal ... ??? [jayrandall]

Since you live in Glencoe, have you gone to Fields? It is still too high. Also Goldcoast Infiniti is part of Luxury Motor Cars. Are you aware of them? You should go to Infiniti of Lisle. I know a good salesman there. what price is the lease based on? I heard people are getting FX 35s for invoice. I am not aware if you can negotiate money factors or residuals but it pays to shop around. Try this formula: I got this info from www.leasecompare.com. Lease Payment Calculation Formula: (Cap Cost – Residual Value) / Term = Depreciation (Cap Cost + Residual Value) X Base Rate = Interest Depreciation + Interest = Base Monthly Payment Terms Used in Lease Formula: CAP COST = Vehicle Purchase Price (amount financed) RESIDUAL VALUE = MSRP (window sticker) X Residual % TERM = Length of Lease in Months (3 years = 36 months) BASE RATE = Dealer’s Buy Rate (dealer can mark this up for profit)

The dealer is Gold Coast and these numbers do include sales tax. (I live in Glencoe, IL) He did give me the money factor (.00229) but I asked him to give me the straight APR (5.5%), The residual is 54%. When he showed me the sales tax I questoned it though. It came to about $3,200. Still too high?
2008 FX35 in Chicago
by poepoe1771 on Thu Aug 21 13:39:32 PDT 2008
Just bought an FX35 at Fields Infiniti in Glencoe, Il. (20mins north of Chicago). 2008 FX35 AWD with the following options Touring Package Hands Free Package Ipod Interface Splash Guards Cargo Area Protector MSRP $42,820 + I had them include the Retractable Cargo Cover (Got different price quotes ranging from $300-$500 MSRP) Final Sale Price $33,500 I went to 4 Dealers and spoke with 3 others by phone and this was the best deal. I called Lisle back and they couldn't beat the price they said they can do that for a Demo but a new car would be $34,280. So in all about $9,500-$9,700 off MSRP(depending on how much that cover costs). This dealer is top notch. They have a cook on staff, a movie theatre, internet cafe, kids play room and several other things. So that was a great selling point as well. I'm happy and think I got a good price. I also called Orland and they could not beat the price either. Thoughts?

Ingvar- Lisle and Glencoe are both willing to make deals on this car. I suspect that Barrington will too, but they didn't send me a quote after I requested it. I think they didn't want to deal with me, would rather wait for a fish to come in.
2007 M35X 2 Month Report
by tmiele104 on Thu Mar 08 14:58:46 PST 2007
While on the surface, the 2007 Infiniti M35X seems to outshine the German and other Japanese competition. Add to the pot the great reviews from both car and consumer magazines and you think you just bought a winner. I thought I did! My experience with this car is that the Japanese car manufacturers just don’t test their cars in cold weather. Once winter arrived here in the Midwest the M35X developed dashboard rattles and squeaks from all areas of the dashboard – around the navigation screen, behind the instrument cluster and by the glove compartment. Two trips to the dealer have done nothing to remedy the problem. I said Japanese problem, because I had a 2004 Lexus RX330 that had the same problem. It took going to a 2nd dealer and three long (multi-day) visits, but they finally got the rattles and squeaks out of the dashboard. And Lexus knew there was a problem and put out a service bulletin on fixing the problem, not denying there is a problem like Infiniti is doing. I also have a 2006 Acura MDX that has the dashboard rattles and squeaks. I’m sorry to say it, but the M is the worst of the bunch. If you live in the southern part of the country, then the Infiniti M will be a good choice. Other than poor gas mileage, the car is a pleasure to drive. If you live in an area of the country that has cold weather, you will definitely be sorry you bought an Infiniti M. Just do a google search on Infiniti dashboard rattles and squeaks and see how widespread the problem is. In my two short months of ownership, I’m also getting the feeling that I’m not going to get the Lexus level of service and support. The dealer’s (Field’s Infiniti of Glencoe, IL) lack of concern and poor response from Infiniti has me thinking I make a huge $50K mistake buying this car.
Re: Carmax in D.C. area [bcb1]

Any car that I buy; I'm always wondering how much used ones would cost, what they look like (Are they holding up quite well), mileage. So I go to dealerships if any cars catch my eye. I saw Glencoe (North of Chicago) Carmax had black '06 Scion xA back in the Summer of '06. So I drove down there by myself my (at the time) Silver Streak Mica '06 xA. I think they were asking about 12,700. At the time, I was dead serious about buying second xA cause my xA's payments were below 300.00s and I only had $300's monthly bill debt. I wanted the silver one to be my customized xA while this black one was my Daily Driver. I had Polish background early or mid 50's man as the sales consultant. Who was hard to understand at first but I was able to pick up what he was saying. He let me view inside and outside of this xA. First thing, I noticed was a strong cigarette smell. That was sale killer. Interior looked okay but could use more cleaning cause I noticed the smoke reduce and outside looked brand new. Two things that made me laugh....One, the Sales Consultant allowed me to start the car. I did and the radio was blasting to rap. Second, because I'm early 20's and driving in xA. The S.C. thought I was making minimal wage until I said "I'm putting too many miles on my current cause I work down here in Illinois." Admitted out loud what company I worked for and the company is locally known to pay above minimal wage even entry level. He took me seriously all of sudden.
