Toyota Sienna Sound system - poor quality
by julia21136 on Sun Nov 16 05:17:13 PST 2008
Hi, I got my basic '08 Sienna LE after driving Chevy Venture '01 for a few years . I love my new car, but the sound system is HORRIBLE. Whenever i would like to HEAR something and crank up the sound it just makes is louder, but not clearer, so i still cannot hear it. While driving rental Sienna i noticed the same poor quality of sound. Granted, i have no idea what was in my old van had, but i want it back. My car's been recked a few weeks ago, so the doors need to be re-assembled now. It will be worked on in the next few weeks, and i thought it might be a good opportunity to make it to my liking. Honestly, i am pretty clueless about what the car sound system is/supposed to be. My Toyota sales rep i spoke to yesterday told me that LE has "the best sound system" but that obviously not working for me. Any advise - please please - would be greatly appreciated. I live in northwest Baltimore county. Sincerely Julia
Extra / Spare Key

I recently purchased the 09 TL TECH (w/keyless entry & start). I had grown accustomed to carrying a spare key in my wallet for emergency use when traveling. While I'm sure that Roadside Assistance could somehow open your car door if the key fob were lost, how would you be able to 'drive away' if the keys were lost out of town? Mike

"Why do so many drivers in Florida tailgate?" I think it's getting worse everywhere... I admit I drive like a geezer and tend to be a slower than the "pack" but for the first time ever, on the interstate (I-83 north of Baltimore), I had somebody do that "autobahn high beam flicker" because I was apparently not driving a speed to their liking. So what's the problem? I was in the RIGHT lane! I guess we turned into Britain overnight and I was not told. Even more pathetic was the traffic was relatively light and the driver that was confused as to what country he was in simply couldn't wait for the car that was passing me (making progress, not "camping out") to complete the pass. When the "autobahn head lamp flicker" didn't work with the car passing me, he simply tried me. Tailgaters are trying to control your vehicle plain and simple. It is belligerent and menacing activity and speaking of the autobahn, it is NOT tolerated in Germany - it's a serious offense with steep fines and penalties - any international drivers chime in here.... I wish America had the same viewpoint on it.
Under two bucks...

is spreading rampant through Maryland. I was out and about yesterday, and saw a member price of $1.99 at the BJ's in Bowie. $1.98 at the Costco in Arundel Mills (I think that area's called Hanover). And just south of Baltimore, I saw a few $1.99's at regular gas stations. Unfortunately, I wasn't driving, otherwise I would've filled up! Closer to home, the two gas stations between home and work are holding out at $2.25 at Citgo, $2.36 at Shell. As for that "Slowly I turn", bit, wasn't it Beavis and Butthead? :P

she's a cellist, so no girly nails for her. From what I've read today, it looks like the best bet is to wait a couple of weeks. The pre-holiday explosion of new gear is about to erupt, apparently, and it sounds like the Blackberry Storm is going to be worth a serious look. Save for that, and based on Brenda's enthusiasm, an iPhone will probably be it.
tech question

ok, so Kirsten needs, really really needs, a new phone. And it ought to be a smartphone, to boot. I don't really know much about the market- I take whatever Blackberry the office gives me. She's dying for an iPhone. She has her calendar on an ancient Mac, via Palm OS leftover from a long dead PDA. She gets her email (a verizon acct) via Outlook on a more recent PC given to her by her Dad for Skype purposes. She has a low tolerance for tech problems, and is happiest when things turn on and "work." She expects to be able to use the device for emailing, scheduling, phoning and such. She'll get PO'ed if it doesn't sync easily to her desktop; while she loves working with tools on the house, she's more or less allergic to electronics troubleshooting. Yes, I realize it is probably time for her to start using Outlook on her PC for her calendar needs, and put the 6-7 year old iBook out to pasture. I will work on that. Any thoughts?
