And anybody else out there who may be interested at an in depth look at what continues to fester under the suface in Ireland I would suggest getting a hold of a novel called Trinity by Leon Uris.   He sold this book as a novel but as an Irishman born and bred I can assure you that this is at least a 90% accurate history of the north of Ireland.   Loosh to a large extent I agree with what you said in Post 14004 what is going on now is pure thuggery mostly perpetrated by the prodestants among themselves for control of the drug trade and crime in their own areas.   The IRA have a similar thing going to a lesser extent in the catholic areas.  But the underlying problem is and always will be a divided Ireland, incidently I do'nt believe the problem will ever be solved by the gun or the bomb and neither am I an IRA sympathiser.  I left Ireland to get away from all that crap and to bring my family to an non secterian atmosphere.   But the six counties were set up in such away as to keep catholics as second class citizens, because they were in the minority, but now it is almost a 50-50 split. The reason that the northern Irish assembley will never work is that the prodestants will never willingly share power with catholics, asking the IRA to diarm is just a ruse to keep the assembly impotent.   BTW it has nothing really to do with handing over guns, if the IRA disarmed in the morning they would have other demands, you do not hear the prodestant politicians demanding that the prodestant paramilitaties disarm.   BTW in a fair world David Trimble would be asked to return the Nobel peace prize as he has no real interest in peace if it means working with catholics.   I would love some day to have a face to face discussion on this subject.  Cheers Pat.

The GPS system does NOT have areas of intentionally greater/lesser accuracy. There is a relationship between GPS accuracy & where you are at this moment on the earth, but that is because of the number of satellites & their geometry relative to you. The GPS satellites are not geostationary, and even if you stay in one spot, the satellites are moving relative to you, and the geometry & number of visible satillites will change. There are two signals transmitted by each GPS satellite, one available only to the military, and one for civilians. In the past, the civilian signal was also degraded to reduce accuracy to a spec of approx +/-300 ft. That degradation has been removed, and the civilian spec is now approx +/- 90 ft, although you should typically experience much better than that. The military signals are better still. Geometry and availability of satellites is the key to GPS. If you are in an "urban canyon" (tall buildings all around) that block the satellite signals, accuracy will be poor. It takes a minimum of 3 satellites to do 2-D positioning, but 4 or more is MUCH better. In a fairly open environment, you should be seeing 6-10 satellites at all times, and the accuracy will typically be +/- 20-30 ft. Do not confuse the accuracy of the navigation & mapping software with the accuracy of GPS. If the number of available satellites drops, the software may put more emphasis on the inputs from other sources, such as the speedo, the steering angles, etc. Mapping accuracy may degrade fairly quickly. Speedometer measurement

I measured my speedometer by using my onboard Trimble GPS receiver. At 60 mph indictated, my GPS says I am going 60.3 mph. At 30 mph indicated, my GPS displays 31 mph.
