Thank-you for the courtesy of a personal reply. I have tried many times to work out a time to take the car to any Saturn Dealership in Northwest Ohio or Southeast Michigan; I have been promised by any number of people: a rental, an immediate exchange of vehicles, that a Saturn Rep would be coming to pick up, and exchange, the vehicle, and the always famous well, we don't have any openings in service this week, or next, but will call you if we do, none of which was actually followed up on; Saturn has not ever, once, admitted that there just might be a problem with either the dealer, or the vehicle. I have shown up at the dealership unannounced only to be told that I will need an appointment and because there are issues, I will need to speak with the service manager, or sales manager, who of course, can't see me right now; I have made appointments at the Saturn Dealer in Ypsilanti, MI to exchange the car only to be called by the Service Manager at the last minute, who couldn't get off the phone fast enough, that the appointment had been cancelled because I did not purchase the vehicle frm them; Saturn of Toledo has called me many rude names as I have been begging for help almost as soon as I picked up the vehicle with 45 miles on it that it did not have when I test drove it and said I would take it, but had to wait to pick it up for Dealer Prep and reported me to Saturn Corporate as having a case of Buyer's Remorse - not true - and that I want money back for buying a Demo, which I did not as the price I paid was for a new car and finally have been told not to bring the car to the Toledo Dealership as there was no guarantee as to what condition it would be when I returned to pick it up, and as we all know, it could be worse. I did a lot of research on this vehicle and thought I had made a wise choice; I just want one that is safe to drive; I don't want money back, like the Dealer keeps saying; I want the vehicle exchanged for the same make and model. Thank-you again. Any help would be appreciated.
Re: Who to work for...Volvo or Ford dealership???? HELP! [joel0622]

"Autos · Gorges & Company Volvo - The oldest existing Volvo Franchise in the United States; New and used car dealers in Wichita, Kansas". Joel-- I don't know if they're the oldest Volvo dealership. I did buy my Toyota MR2 from their used car center about 8 years ago. The reason the name has stuck with me is that my wife had actually called to see if the car was still available and when she heard the dealership name she immediately freaked out. She thought the Gorges Motors was "Gorgeous" Motors and all she could picture was young men with greasy hair and badly capped teeth who wore fake gold watches and ill-fitting Italian suits. She was adamant that we wouldn't be traveling 150 miles to deal with a bunch of disreputable so-and-sos. For some reason when we determined it was "Gorges" that made it ok. Back in 1969 my folks bought a Ford from a dealership named Gene Butman. Probably not the best name for a dealership either, but still in business in Ypsilanti, MI How could anyone like "Butman Ford" on the "rear" of their ride? That Galaxy 500 ended up being my first car. Gogiboy
Re: New 6 speed plant [bumpy]
by 62vetteefp on Fri Feb 22 08:50:00 PST 2008
They have 3 plants currently making the 6T40/45 for 4 cylinders in Ypsilanti, China and Korea. Another plant is being built in Toledo for 2010. The 6T70/75 for V6 FWD/AWD is built in Warren. I see not other plans for building HD 6T70/75's. As of 2008 GM had capacity to build 1.8 million 6 speeds (10 variants) and will have capacity to build 3 million by 2010.
New 6 speed plant
by 62vetteefp on Fri Feb 22 05:31:42 PST 2008
Looks like the next 6 speed plant is open. Look to see many more GM vehicles using the 6 speed. Wonder of all the honda and toyota scribers will complain about their out of date 5 speeds? This plant per the article builds RWD versions only with many going to Austrailia. General Motors dedicated a $660 million transmission plant at its vehicle assembly, engine and stamping complex here Tuesday, Feb. 19. The plant began operations about a month ago. It has an installed capacity of 1,500 six-speed transmissions a day, said Kevin Williams, GM Mexico president. The plant builds a new six-speed rear-wheel-drive family of transmissions. Those gearboxes will be used in 25 different vehicles assembled around the world, including passenger cars and light trucks. The transmissions are intended mainly for use on vehicles built at Silao. About 90,000 a year will be exported to Australia and other overseas markets. A plant in Ypsilanti, Mich., builds the same family of transmissions.
Getting a deal on a GMC Sierra
by goblue16 on Thu Feb 14 12:15:22 PST 2008
I stumbled into this converstion and thought I would add my 2 cents. I just bought a 2008 Sierra with $4500 in rebates and the friends and family discount of $2300. I got $6800 off a MSRP of about $32,700. I intended to purchased a nearly new truck, but found with the $6800 discounts, I was hovering near the prices of 2006 and 2007 with miles on them or at last withing $1500 or so. One of the rebates ends today and another rended yesterday. I found when you get friends and family or employee discounts, they will not deal with you. They won't even install mudflaps for you. Maybe you will get lucky and find a dealer that will negotiate. My dealer was Prestige in beautiful Ypsilanti, Michigan.
