Thankfully only causing a minor accident. I researched the problem and found that 2003 aviator had this problem on 25 cars. I purchased my car about three months after the recall. I find it impossible to get any one to check the car. the dealership has more avoidance techniques, Ford has not responded. Did anyone else have this problem? Please any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

advice on Aviator /Navigator: by mapleton on Tue Oct 19 07:58:10 PDT 2004; Be very leery on the Aviator if you drive a significant number of miles. I am expecting the refund from my lemon any day now. The funny thing is that the service manager at my dealership is now getting issues with the trans on a regular basis. Go figure. I guess since I drive a lot it made sense that my Aviator would get the problem early. Mike.

Re: Aviator/Navigator transmission problems [mapleton]: by wrs on Mon Oct 18 11:22:10 PDT 2004; Yes Transmission problems with New 2004 Navigator with 1000 miles on it (3rd week), similar slipping, complete disengagement problems, just happened and in the shop now. I am very interested in the problems they tried to ID. I told them to come pick up THEIR car, I am trying to exchange now because I am afraid of your very situation, ongoing unidentified problems. I will pass along their diagnoses. Does anyone else have this problem??

They definitely restored some of the confidence that I have lost in the Ford Motor Company. I will probably be getting a SAAB or Pontiac Grand Prix as a replacement. My wifes father used to be a GM exec so I will get the employee discount. I no longer get the Ford discount as my brother had quit a while ago.
