Re: Introduction From A Newbie [grosloup]

The reason we are seeing taller rims is because the standard vehicle performances have been increasing. The manufactures are almost building the cars around the tires. A lower profile tire will have a better and more solid contact on a wet and dry road. High speed handling is better with a low profile tire. I dont know the actual reason for 20s but it could be just so that say a SUV could handle like a compact. In my opinion, the tallest rim id have is 18. Comes stock on my ss cobalt and have put 18s on previous vehicles. 20s are too tall and flimsy, ride like crap and feel like they are gonna break if you go over a speed bump to fast.... Going back, a skinnier size does cause less friction in snow but what happens when you get back on pavement???? your gonna sacrifice performance. Just sayin....

The Lacrosse is a dull, spongy, soft sprung pillow... How the heck would you know? Do you own one? We do. Oh, and the Camry is a high performance exotic that would put a Ferrari to shame. I guess you conveniently forgot about the commercials that showed a Camry being aggressively driven on a deserted L.A. freeway. The only time you'd ever see a Camry being aggressively driven is when some wimpy whipped husband is two minutes late in coming home to his dominant, controlling wife so he can hand over his paycheck so she can go shopping and stick him with the bratty spoiled kids he never wanted in the first place.

Front end noise?
by tmach on Tue Nov 18 07:07:15 PST 2008
I have a 2005 Jeep Liberty that has developed a noise that seems to be coming from the front end, possibly the wheels, though not sure. It is a high pitched whine that occurs in cold weather (20 degrees and lower) at speeds between 62 and 65 miles per hour. Does anybody have any thoughts?

The classics do endure and we all are richer for them. One anecdote I have stated before is Benjamin Disraeli addressing the upper chamber of Parliment, when he was disparaging the lower chamber , the House of Commons , he stated that half of the members were total and complete idiots. The Speaker of the House demanded that he immediately retract his statements lest he be censured. He stood up and said, Mr. Speaker, I retract my statements, half of the House of Commons are not total and complete idiots. We don't build them like that anymore unfortunately. Today's lot pale in comparison. Thinking that you retained a tad more than you let on. :D

Executive Salaries, Bonuses, Stock Options, and Other Compensation Those salaries and bonuses are even more reason to let GM DIE. Wagoner sees no reason to change the top tier managers. Gettlefinger sees no reason for the UAW to give concessions. GM cannot make it without outside cash to pay these high costs. Let them go. And I do not believe for one second that GM is that important to the US economy. Barely a blip on the GDP. Not even one half of one percent. You are living in the past as is most of the UAW members. You watch too much worthless TV. It is in Obama's court now. Bush handed it over to him. He does not want to deal with that bunch of losers in the 110th Congress.
