Accord EX-L V6 (no navi) - Charlotte metro area
by kleddy on Sun Jun 01 18:09:02 PDT 2008
I wanted to share my experience with this forum since I've relied on the member posts so heavily during the last couple of days: Date of purchase: May 31, 2008 Color/Model: Basque Red Pearl; Accord EX-L V6 (no navi) Mileage: 233 Dealer: Honda Cars of Rock Hill (South Carolina; part of the Rick Hendrick franchise) Sales Price (includes delivery and accesories listed below): $26,500 * incl. wheel locks, mudflaps, rear deck spoiler Documentation prep: $399 Sales Tax (flat fee in South Carolina): $300 Registration fees: $10 Title/Lien fees: $15 * transferred a title/tag from another car we sold, privately, the same day. Total OTD cost: $27,244 One quick note before I go on...Once we had decided to purchase an Accord, my husband called dealerships in Rock Hill, Gastonia, Concord, Charlotte - South Blvd, Columbia, Winston Salem, and Monroe to request "all-in" quotes. When it was all said and done, we were able to get the best deal from Rock Hill, and we liked the salesman to boot. Incidentally, the dealership in Concord was reasonable to work with, but couldn't match the price and really didn't want to deal too much over the phone/email. The South Blvd dealer was completely unreasonable and wouldn't even entertain offering quotes over the phone. There was no way we were purchasing a car there. So, onward: Since we negotiated an out the door (OTD) price, we couldn't care less where the dealer put their profit, so long as it was a number we were comfortable with. But, for those of you that will agonize over such things, they clearly worked it into the document fees in our case. In addition to the final sales price, we purchased: Gap Insurance: $449 7/120k Extended Warranty: $999 Financing: $0 down; 2.9% for 60 months That's it. We love the car and it drives like a dream. My husband will be commuting in it daily and since we plan to keep the car for at least the next 8-10 years (as we do all our vehicles), it's a good thing he likes it so much. :) Happy hunting!!
Paid $23,459.71+++ or $24,900 OTD W\Package #2

Went to (Toyota of Gastonia) by Charlotte, NC and after a few trips back and forth we settled on 2008 Prius with package 2 for $24,900 out the door (all taxes & fees included). They didn't have a Prius on the lot but could get one in a day or two. We'll see if the wait's that short, but either way I don't care. I can wait and I think I got a deal that was fair for the both of us. They didn’t make t easy though; I had to work for it. The problem for consumers is that dealers can't keep the cars on the lots (much like the VW Bug or resent Mustang craze) so it makes negotiating difficult. They know they will sell it to the guy behind you if you’re not going to pay their price. My saving grace was that I was willing to wait and bought without a trade in. Here's a tip for all of you who aren’t in the know; don’t bring a trade to the table if you can help it. They just use the trade as leverage to work the numbers against you anyway. Sell it before buying and if you just can't wait than try a CarMax dealership. They normally give you $2k more than the dealer if the cars in good condition. ;) I hope this helps you make better choices.

I had the same problem when I was shopping for a Taurus. I looked over 100 mile radius (dealer inventory on the internet) for the color and options I wanted (without options I did not want). I ended up getting a Sable Premier from a dealer 40 miles away. My wife and I liked the Sable a little better than the Taurus. I got the Light Sage color with AdvanceTrac (Ford's name for their ESC), memory adjustable pedals, reverse sensors, and Sirius Radio. Here is the report I posted on another forum: Bought a new 2008 Mecury Sable in Gastonia, NC. MSRP was $28875, and selling price $26314. Adding $700. tax, $99 tag/transfer, and $389 Doc fee the OTD price, after $2400 rebates and $3000 trade-in, was $22102. The buying experience was very good. I did a lot of the preliminary negotiations on the internet and telephone since the dealer was 40 miles from where I live. I was able to get a 5.99% 60 month loan, which beat the 2.9% Ford deal in which I would have had to give up $2000 of the rebate.

Help on V6 EX-L Accord with Nav lease
by g_p on Tue Jul 17 16:17:21 PDT 2007
I just searched the board to see if I could find the money factor and residual % for a V6 EX-L with Nav. Can anyone help with that (both 24 and 36 mo and both 12 and 15K/yr)? I stopped by the dealer today and got a quote of 0 down with all fees rolled into the payment and a monthly payment of 370 for 36 mo and 12K/yr. This also figures no first payment so I guess it would be 35 payments at that price. This is in Charlotte/Gastonia, N.C. It was like pulling teeth to get all the details of how they figured the pmt, so I left and thought I'd do some research first. I have a couple of other dealers working numbers for me now, but if I can get the relevant #'s, I should be able to figure the payments out for myself. Thanks -
