Luggage space

On my trip to the Outer Banks, about 2000 miles round trip, we had three adults, two suitcases, two guitar cases, a large and a small cooler, two backpacks and other assorted small bags. We put one seat down--the smaller one. As crammed as it was, I could still see out the back window (for which our wiper performs intermittently) and we were still averaging 34 MPG. We stopped in Asheville for a couple of days and I took an early morning trip up and down Town Mountain Road. With the electronic steering and paddle shifters, it was one of life's great thrills!
2008 LIMITED 4WD LOADED

The dealer in Asheville, NC (JIMBARKLEYTOYOTA.COM) has prices BEFORE tax, title & registration posted on their web site. I purchased an 08 4wd Ltd loaded this past April from the Vero Beach, Florida dealer after informing them of the NC price. They matched the NC price. Of course since then the price has dropped $2,500.

I live in the high, humid mountains of North Carolina (3500Ft) and so far have not had this problem. Could it be something related to the model year 08; my car is an XR 2007 ?? Only problem I have encountered in nearly 2 years of ownership is the rocker panel separation problems.

Probably the leaks are a result of gaps or separations of the under door rocker panels. A problen that Saturn refuses to acknowledge . Check to see if your Rocker panel are attached properly with no large gaps near the B pillar, which allows water to enter when driving in heavy rain or after going through a car wash !! ( of course you may have the other problem also.) :(
Our TCH decsion confirmed - again

We were not going to purchase a replacement for our '02 Honda Odyssey Van for another 3 years, but it was totalled in a severe accident. We were on a 4 month wait list for a mid-optioned Prius. Due to safety concerns (RE: Ody accident) with the Prius, we purchased a base '09 TCH (Jim Barkely Toyota in Asheville, NC at $300 under MSRP-NO "adders", doc fees or packages). The base TCH was a $1,400 more than the Prius we were waitng on. The first tank of interstate driving back home at 65 MPH was 41 MPG. We now have over 3K miles and average 38 MPG in mixed cycle driving. This is an increase of 21 MPG over the van (17 MPG in same mixed cycle). Car & Driver just picked the TCH as #1 family sedan (yes, over the Prius too) to have during high gas prices. Reading the article carefully, the TCH has better city MPG than all cars they have tested but the Prius.

I agree jae5- most people I've seen who have started feeling this economic crunch are welcoming the lower fuel costs, but not because they seem to be going back to old driving OR shopping habits. Mostly just because it makes it a bit less tight come bill paying time. The rest of most folks' living expenses haven't gone down a bit for the fuel costs yet, so this is just a place where they can get a few more dollars to apply elsewhere. As always, we here in western NC seem to pay at least 20 to 40 cents more than much of the rest of the country. On Tuesday I paid $2.77 at a new Ingles gas station in Black Mountain NC. The Monday evening news reported that the place I usually buy at was at the same price, (Sam's Club, Asheville), so since the Ingles was on my route while the Sam's is about 4 miles round trip out of the way.. I don't know what prices are at as of today, but some of the more expensive stations nearer to home (in Old Fort, NC) are at $2.79 now, so I expect both the Ingles and Sam's are even lower than what I paid Tuesday.
