Re: Excessive Brake Dust and Engine Rev. [ivan_99]
by mz6greyghost on Fri Oct 03 11:30:29 PDT 2008
Brake dust, for me, would be about the 99th item on a list of 100…maybe the 100th being undesirable valve stem caps… My 100th is actually which side the gas cap is. :) Seriously, brake dust IS annoying, but not nearly annoying enough to ditch a car that I really like, let alone for a coma-inducing Camry. There are plenty of excellent products on the market that specifically remove brake dust, some without scrubbing by hand. Another trick: if your wheels are painted (such as the 6), put a coat or two of car wax on them. They not only help them shine, but it helps in repelling/removing brake dust as well.

Give it time. My '04 6 with V6 wasn't getting decent mileage until it was fully broken in (about 4-5K miles). Now I easily exceed the EPA mileage. Same with the '07 Altima 2.5S that's my wife's DD, the mileage improved greatly after the engine was broken in.

what do the adjustable headlights do? and how do you adjust them? the dealership has to? The Xenon headlights have a small rotary knob that allows the driver to adjust the height of the beams as they shine down the road. It allows you to adjust the beam height in the case that you have a higher load of cargo/passengers, they allow you to lower the beam height to not blind oncoming drivers.
No roadside assistance
by gened1 on Thu Sep 25 06:08:44 PDT 2008
I was very surprised to find that my 2008 Solara convertible did not automatically come with roadside assistance (Unless I bought the expensive maintenance package). Do all Toyota's not come with roadside assistance? I know my old Lexus did. My wife's Impala does. It even had Onstar for a year! My old Ford 500 did and every car I have owned in recent years has. To be fair I don't remember ever having to use roadside assistance but it was convenient knowing that if I ventured away from home I would have help if I needed it.
Re: Tundra - where's the snow plow prep package ? [cthuskie]
by otto8 on Mon Sep 22 20:00:48 PDT 2008
Why? Because the tundra is just a soccer-mommie wanna be truck thats only good for trips to the school or garden store.................... They aren't made to work! Just note the recalls and complaints on those bad camshafts, failing transmissions and bouncing beds, lack of a REAL limited slip rear end among other things..................... "Good luck on this one now!" :lemon:
Re: 0-60 & 1/4 mile times? [aviboy97]
by mz6greyghost on Sat Sep 20 08:33:34 PDT 2008
Has anyone noticed that the non-VCM Accord 3.5L V6 found in the Accord Coupe is rated at 17city-25hwy with a combined 20mpg overall with a 6-speed manual? That's right there with Mazda's 3.7L and has less power. I know it's not a sedan, but, I just thought I would mention it. Funny you mentioned that, I just noticed that last evening. With the amount of complaints I've seen about the VCM-equipped cars not getting the advertised mileage, it seems that Mazda is VERY comparable to the Accord (and others) in terms of FE. Since I've consistently met or exceeded the FE numbers for the '04 V6-equipped Mazda6 (the OLD numbers, not the new ratings), I don't see any problem with FE on the '09 6, despite what the EPA rates are.
