This study says cars contribute THE MOST to GW
by larsb on Tue Feb 05 07:46:37 PST 2008
Cars BAD WASHINGTON: In the first ever analysis of the effect of the transport sector on climate, it has been established that road traffic contributes the most to global warming, aviation sector has the second largest warming effect, and shipping has a net cooling effect on the Earth’s climate. According to a report in ENN (Environmental News Network), for the analysis, five researchers from CICERO (Center for International Climate and Environmental Research) broke down the transport sector to four subsectors: road transport, aviation, rail, and shipping. The research team then calculated each subsector's contribution to global warming by looking at the radiative forcing (RF) caused by transport emissions. The study concludes that since pre-industrial times, 15 per cent of the RF caused by man-made CO2-emissions has come from the transport sector. It also looks at other emissions. For ozone (O3), transport can be blamed for 30 per cent of the forcing caused by man-made emissions. The study implies that more attention needs to be put on the fast growing road sector. Looking solely at CO2 emissions, road traffic alone has led to two-thirds of the warming caused by total transport emissions. Veddy Interestink............

Oldfarmer, I'm in upstate NY. You're in the Boston area right? I wonder How the Altima would handle a little road trip down I-90. I would be more than happy to get you into a new Coupe. :) But just to let you know i found three dealers in New York that have a Percision Grey 3.5 Coupe. 1) Burdick Nissan in Cicero NY... 2) Vision Nissan in Wester NY... 3) Niagara Nissan in Lockport NY... I don't know if these dealers are close too you but I thought it might be helpful for you. But like I said I would be more than happy to sell you one too. :) That way I could justify my time on these forums to my Bosses ;) Either way let me know how you make out! If you don't see me here I am always on Stories of the front lines :shades: GP
Re: Looking to buy a 2003 A4 1.8 Turbo... HELP!! [vtlax2]
by cicero on Wed Aug 02 18:20:20 PDT 2006
I have not gone further in the stream, and my reply may be unnecessary but I would suggest that if you bought a nice car that you take it to some place other than Quik Lube. The 1.8s need reliable oil service and taking it to Thrift Lube is not going to get you the "R" in reliable. Check the posts and you may find that some owners/renters failed to properly take care of their oil changes and they suffered.
CURRENT LEASES INFO FOR 13212
by billsyr on Sun May 20 10:45:24 PDT 2007
I find this site very informative. Want to say thanks to all the buyers and to Carman for sharing. We're in the market for a MKX with a dealership visit scheduled for Tuesday. We're going to Driver's Village, North Syracuse (Cicero maybe). It's one of these new mega dealerships that sell almost every brand of car. I did some online viewing and got a call from the dealership of course. Before I go, can you give me some heads up of what to look for. What to ask. We have a Jeep Grand Cherokee with an expiring lease. We looked at the new Jeeps and found them way off the mark in quality; cheap actually for the price and lease forward dealers are not available on most of what they do have so we asked the sale rep to show us something else. He suggested either the Lincoln or a Nissan. We're going to test drive both and I'm sure they'll want to make us an offer. How does one get the 'best offer' on paper so you can leave...think about it and maybe even comparison shop. What is the current lease rates in our area for 15k/yr. We also have a '99 Grand Am to trade in. How should I go about this and keep the deal fairly clean and not let it all become the monthly payment sales tricks? thanks !!!!
