Need idea for negotiating price for 2004 H.E. w/46,500 miles
by galwaygp on Fri Apr 07 16:48:28 PDT 2006
My wife and I are about to make an offer on a really nice red Certified Used 2004 Elantra GLS with 46,500 miles on it. It comes with 100,000 more miles Powertrain warranty (til 146,500 miles)... We have bought from this dealer before and were happy with our Caravan....he makes most of his money on the rental of his cars (many Dodge Caravans and Tauruses)...he says 85% of his sales are repeat customers. We were impressed with the scrapbook of remarks from satisfied customers and their specific comments/ratings about his honesty, his car's reliability and their service. Anyway, he is asking $8995 but said we could certainly negotiate. Can I ask some of you for advice about where to start pricewise (low end-don't want to seem ridiculous, but would love the best deal we can get!) Specifics: 4 door, no ABS, cassette (no CD player) Automatic transmission Thanks so much. Gary

Hello, I'm a new owner of a 03 TDI New Beetle. I live in Syracuse NY, but bought the bug in Sept in Seattle when the tranny of my 93 Explorer (exploder) gave up the ghost. I put 5000 miles on it getting it home (with no license plates - nobody stopped me) and loved every minute of it. This is my first new car (age 57). One leg of the trip, I got 60 MPG. We had a winter around here with 15 feet of snow (so far) and - 15F temps. Those heated seats are great! The car started and ran great. I just passed 10,000 miles and no problems whatever. I pay a lot of attention to sites like this. Lots of good info. I just bought an ultralight popup camper from a motorcycle and am getting a hitch installed. Cheers. Waldo
