Bought 2008 EX-L with RES & NAV in Louisville, KY
by lewhnh on Mon Oct 13 19:56:58 PDT 2008
Just closed the deal on subject Odyssey - Dark Cherry Pearl. Love the van, but hate to give up the TL - just can't squeeze in three car seats... Details: Price: $28,638 Fees: $499 Tax: $1,718 TL: $67 Out the door: $30,922 There are two interesting things about my transaction. 1) My trade, the aforementioned 2007 TL-S (God I loved that car...). They gave me $25,000 for it and I owed about $30,100, so I rolled $5,100 into the new note at 2.9%/60 mos. So, I ended up financing right at $36,000. The interesting thing - that I've not seen before - is that they changed the way the deal was structured on paper. As listed on the contract, they gave me $30,100 for the trade, ostensibly because "they can't show a negative down payment". I immediately commented that "you can also show this to the future car buyer as leverage" - as in "We can't sell it for less - we'd be taking a loss on the car". Something to keep in mind for future purchases... The proof of the amount they gave me however is in the tax, which must be paid on the amount of the sale: $1,718. At 6%, that back-calculates to $28,638. 2) When we went into the dealership on Saturday, they had two of these models in red and one in white. When we called back this afternoon, they had sold two of them. No big deal, they still had a red one, which I wanted. When we got there, however, the salesman tells me that the one they have left has 1,800 miles on it. I'm not terribly upset about this - all things considered - but my wife is. After my 20 minute phone conversation with her, I let the salesman know that the dealer across the river (Huffmann Honda in Clarksville, IN) offered to match their deal - and that they have one in red. He disappears, then comes back to let me know that the one that had been "sold" had not had a deposit put down, so he was going to let me have it. The other customer was working with another salesman, so he'd let them deal with that. Being on the good outcome, I'm OK with that - I know how things go - but I would be irate if I was the other guy (I think she came in before I left...) Overall, I don't think that I saw a better deal for this car mentioned in these forums ($29,140 + TTL), so I am as happy as I can be given that I'm now officially a minivan-driving 30-something parent of 2.9. I'd recommend Sam Swope Honda and my salesman, but only because of the price. Thanks (for the second time) to the other users of this forum for helping me zero in on a good deal. Lew

Metallic silver color with 50 state emission + Floor Mats pkg ($199) with full tank of gas and new plates installed by the dealer !! It was a nice Toyota car buying experience, after having very bad experiences with Honda dealers located in the Ellicott City and Clarksville, MD. This is our sixth car that we bought/leased in the last 10 years.
Re: 2008 Honda CR-V 4WD EX-L Taffeta White [troymasters]
by raffpee1 on Fri Jul 04 14:34:31 PDT 2008
Hi All, Just want to tell everyone that I will be buying my 2nd 2008 CRV EX AWD balck/black at Sports Honda since my first 2008 CRV got totalled in a major car accident. No one can beat Sports Honda's price. I have the receipt to prove the OTD price. Sorry can't tell anyone here my OTD price because Sports Honda may not make any money. To all people in Washinton DC metro Area, please do not waste your time at Herson's Honda, College Park Honda, and Jim Coleman of Clarksville, MD. Criswell Honda is the 2nd best because they have the 2nd OTD lowest price. Sports and Criswell Honda are willing to lower their price - below invoice because: - WE ARE IN RECESSION - GAS PRICES ARE HIGH - SUVs are not selling well. Dealers shoud be aggressive in lowering their prices. Keep patience and do a lot of research like reading forums of what people paid for their CRV. Good Luck and God Bless.

the NIssan dealership is part of a very large autogroup owned by Jeff Wyler....a long time dealer-owner. That tidbit of information may come in handy one day. Jeff Wyler has a Toyota dealership just across the river from Louisville in Clarksville Indiana. They advertise themselves as a "no haggle" dealership. Commercials on t.v talk about how much they value the customer and they will treat you right. I don't know if Jeff Wyler owned that dealership 4 years ago when my wife and I visited, looking to buy a minivan. But, I do remember they wouldn't go down much in price, about $400, on a 2002 Sienna that listed for around $20k. I told them what we were wanting to pay, they didn't budge... so we walked. Glad we did to. As we ended up purchasing a brand new 2004 Mazda MPV (ZOOM ZOOM) for the same amount of money. Incidently our MPV has a birthday today... 4 years old ! Happy Birthday to my little baby... they grow up so fast on you.
08 Honda Odyssey, Ourisman Honda and Volkswagen in Laurel, Maryland
by rohitk on Sat Jun 28 15:41:27 PDT 2008
I went to Ourisman Honda and Volkswagen dealer in Laurel, MD. They are a very dishonest Honda dealer. I would recommend everyone to stay away from them. I have been on the phone weeks talking with Erick( the sales rep) for a 08 Honda Odyssey EX-L with DVD and NAV. Erick and i had a verbal commitment on the price of the car. Infact, i had asked Erick to send me in an email, the prices for each item that they would charge to drive the car out of the Lot. Erick always refused to provide me with something in an email. He always said to me to come to the dealership, and he guaranteed to me that i would get a much better deal than another dealer. Erick infact agreed to beat the quote that i had received from Jim Coleman Honda in Clarksville,MD for a 08 odyssey EX-L by $200 what they were charging for just the cost of the car. After Erick gave me his verbal commitment on the price, Erick's boss, Steve Cole, called me on the phone and went over the prices for the items that Ourisman Honda would charge me. They both agreed to sell me the 08 Odyssey EX-L with a DVD and NAV for $28,184. They agreed to charge, $635 for freight, 6% MD sales tax, 2 years Tags for $222, and a $100 processing fee. I live 45 minutes from the Dealership. So, after i make the trip to the dealership at the agreed appointment time, Erick is too busy with another customer. Steve doesn't even bother to talk to us. They send ,Ryan, another salesman who has no idea what Erick and Steve had agreed on with me. I mentioned to Ryan that we had driven 45 miles and were ready to close the deal on an odyssey. Instead, Ryan starts taking me to the lot to show their odyssey's. He had no clue of the Odyssey's that I was interested in. Ryan comes back with a quote of $32,800 with an $1599 appearance package, after talking with Steve Cole, the manager, when Steve and i had agreed on a Total Final Price of $30,888 without any appearance package charge during our phone conversations. When i ask Ryan to bring Erick or Steve over, he refuses and mentions to me that they are both busy and can not come over. He also mentions to me that they both don't remember ever mentioning the price that i am quoting to him. I was so furious that i drove 45 minutes for nothing. I wish Erick and Steve had mentioned to me that they can not offer the 08 odyssey EX-L with DVD and NAV for that price before i had driven 45 minutes to make the trip to Laurel, MD. I recommend to anyone who is thinking of buying a Honda car from Ourisman Honda and Volkswagen in Laurel, Maryland to stay away from this dealership. They are very dishonest and are cheats. They will tell you one thing over the phone and when you get their the salesman is rude and starts acting smart with the customer. Hope this helps someone who is thinking of buying a car from this dealership. I had a bad experience with them. apollo
