Re: Bought EX-L RES in South Carolina [cheapdad000]
by dmitchell2 on Tue Feb 26 09:16:29 PST 2008
Yes, Breakaway's price was OTD. They did not break it down, but as a SC Resident it would have gone something like this: Vehicle (including destination): $28,936 SC Taxes (they're capped at $300) $300 Tags: $39 I'd suspect that the vehicle price is actually slightly lower, and they charge a doc fee, but the OTD is the same. If you're in NC, your taxes and tags will be higher, of course (sorry!). Here are the NC Dealer quotes I received. All are OTD, based on South Carolina taxes/tags (Taxes in SC = $300, tags = $39). Adjust as needed for NC. Auto Park Honda - Cary $29,558 High Country Honda - Boone $29,664 Vann York Honda - High Point $30,000 Asheboro Honda - Asheboro $30,273 Crown Honda Chapel Hill - Chapel Hill $30,599 Bob Barbour Honda - Greenville $30,754 Alan Vester Honda - Roanoke Rapids $32,508 The following NC dealers did not response with a quote (make of it what you will): Burlington Honda - Burlington Coastal Carolina Honda - New Bern Courtesy Honda - Goldsboro Davenport Honda - Rocky Mount Hope that helps!
Gas mileage
by slorydn1 on Sun Apr 29 21:38:28 PDT 2007
I have a 2004 F150 Lariat Supercab 4x2, 5.4L V-8 with the 3.55 Limited slip rear axle. My gas mileage from March 1, 2004 through February 25, 2007 (I've been too lazy to add my latest slips to my spread sheet) is 13.898 MPG. This encompasses every type of trip from going around the corner to make my kids come home to several 1700 mile round trips to Miami and back, up to the 48455 miles my truck had on it up until that date. I bought it with 4 miles on it. My best average ever was 20.041 mpg on a trip from Asheville, NC to New Bern, NC (most of which was down hill) and my worst ever was 10.357 MPG when the truck was brand new and wasn't broken in yet. Right now I am pretty consistently in the 13.2-13.3 range around town and 17.5-18.5 range on the open road.

My 2002 Toyota Sequoia SR5 is doing the same thing - no "D" indicator light. Did you find out how to fix it? or is it just something that we're going to have to live with?
I finally got my OUTLANDER XLS!!!
by qqt414 on Sat Jun 30 23:09:54 PDT 2007
hey guys i finally took the plunge today and got what i think is a great deal on my outlander. Its a black Outlander XLS 4wd with sun and sound, luxury pack, and navigation. After bartering with dealer after dealer giving them the lowest price and letting them work with that number, i finally got an offer for 27,999 or basically 28,000 and financed it for 48 months at 1.9%. I told my salesman Berne that hey i like the price so get the paperwork started and ill be in tomorrow at 5 pm to finish it up. I got there and they had sold the black one i wanted the night before, and they tried to sell me a graphite one for the same price. i wanted black and after walking out toward my car, Berne went to the manager to see what he could do. He said he could get it from their sister dealer 15 min from there, but it would be 28,300. I was firm with 28,000 and after to hostile negotiation got down to 28,100 with the sales manager. After this it was simply the fastest car buying process i have ever been through. From the moment i got to the dealership to when i drove off was 2 and half hours. This included test driving, paper work, financing, and vacuming/washing/gassing up at the end! This forum helped so much to show me how much others paid and how to negotiate. i have to say WAIT UNTIL THE END OF THE MONTH!!! This weekend was july 4th madness plus it is 6/30/07 or the last day of the month. While shooting the breeze with my sales guy Berne, an ex-marine, while my car was being washed we had a long honest talk about the car salesman profession. he had told me that they brought the price down to 27,999 because the dealership was only 1-2 cars away from the bonus and that he worked real hard with me over the phone to get the price because the sale i brought him gave him his monthly bonus. I don't know if what he told me is true, but i felt good about the price i paid and that i helped the poor working stiff. For anyone in Northern California, i ended up doing business with Capitol Mitsubishi. They also own Stevens creek and serramonte Mitsubishi (they all share the same inventory). Concord and East Bay Mitsu got down to 28,300 but no lower. Veracom got down to 28,500. Finally months of research and late night dreams can come to an end. I will report in on how my Outlander holds up, but i drove around searching for the wind noise problem, the steering knock problem, and the radio cut-out problem and i dont have any of that.Maybe i just got a good one we'll see. Cheers!!
Possibly getting an SLS
by camry1090 on Sat Mar 31 15:43:53 PDT 2007
Hey everybody! I'm considering selling my '00 Toyota Camry LE and and looking at getting a '00 Cadillac Seville SLS with 58k... I was wondering how the quality of these are during the '98-'04 models? My Toyota has been trouble free for the past year and I'm ready to upgrade to something a little faster and alot more comfortable. I have found a SLS for around $9,950 (shocked at the low prices of these cars) Do you think that is a good deal? Thanks for the help.
Fuel update 06 SE 4X4 KC auto/toneau cover.
by critter1 on Thu Jun 08 05:05:13 PDT 2006
 Aberdeen MD to New Bern NC down & back averaged between 21-23 mpg. One reading said 23.7. I clocked between 70-79 m/h. going Interstate 95. Around Balto/Wash. slow & congested. The 4 liter ran great plenty of power, ride was was confortable, almost too relaxing with cruise on. I wonder how much difference cover made on mpg? I could always rollup cover next trip to see how much it is, 440 miles one way. Rode on beach surf fishing the air downed BFG's did very well spreading the weight.Next trip is July to NC, will inform about truck performance. Critter in the Surf Fish'in PS caught mess of Bluefish in surf and 3 keeper Flounder! :)
