hehe.. yeah, I know Valleyford... I was a volunteer firefighter for the department that's headquartered there in the 70's & 80's... worked/lived in the Moran Prairie & Ponderosa stations, as well as fill-in dispatch at the station in beautiful downtown Valleyford. :) I'm a transplanted South Hill brat myself - Hamblen Elementary. In the Valley now - in the Central Valley HS vicinity. Cheers! Paul
Fast food

I'll have to check out Culver's. I might be checking out Michigan again this summer. I'd also like to try a Sonic sometime and see what they are. Of the regular everywhere fast food the only one that is a little OK is Wendy's. The kids love a Ponderosa when we can find one. Outback is nice if overpriced.

Some folks just love to be negative to the Ody simply because it costs a little more. Why would you eat at Ruth's Chris when Ponderosa has steak for less? And why would you post on a forum for a vehicle you don't own nor have any intention of owning? We're very happy with our '05 Ody and would buy another one tomorrow if we were currently shopping. If Honda would release a Touring with plus-one seat, I would trade up tomorrow.

Pardon my ignorance, but is Palm Steakhouse the Candian version of Ponderosa? LOL The restaurant wasn't very popular but they released sales figures indicating that they sold more porterhouses than rival steak houses. Now the restaurant is flooded with people seeking the steak that comes with a cute little badge that reads "Ultimate Feeding Routine". You need only pay 20% more to enjoy too. Jo2, the M does emit a rumble under acceleration. I actually enjoy the note and even if I didn't I don't find it noisy enough to be bothersome. It is a performance sedan. As with a previous post, I generally have the music loud enough that I don't hear it anyway. Will you feel envious of a BMW when it pulls up next to you? Only you can answer that question. If what others think of your car is that important you may need the little propeller. I'm with drtravel in that it doesn't mean much to me. The only compliment that I'll pay to BMW today is that I only needed to twist their arm, not break it, to buy back my defective 7er. Have fun with your choice.

By the way, I am treated regally when I pull up to the Palm steakhouse in my 545. Pardon my ignorance, but is Palm Steakhouse the Candian version of Ponderosa?
Northwest...
by goldencouple1 on Tue Jun 18 10:23:30 PDT 2002
I don't mean to be contrary, but I had a very wet experience in the NW. My wife and I took a trip last year to the San Juan Islands and the Olympic Peninsula. The San Juans: rain about once a day, an hour or more at a time. Which was not so bad. I was born in Florida and was semi-amphibious for years. I was used to rain and lots of it certain times of the year -- you live by and around the afternoon thunderstorm. But the Olympic Peninsula...OMG! We arrived under clouds, got the tent up...and it started to rain. We ate in the rain. We hiked in the rain. We slept in the rain. We woke up in the rain. We hiked in the rain again. We sat under an a-framed tarp, at our picnic table, and stared into the rain. We walked in the rain. We walked in the rain again. We stared some more. Like I said, I grew up in Florida -- I thought I knew rain and that it was no big deal to me. But in Florida, the sun comes out some time. In Washington it was a steady, constant drizzle that just went on and on and on and on and on and... Man, I was ready to peal the skin off my arms before it was over! Anything to cut into the constant sogginess of my gray-spongy soul! It stopped raining for about 45 minutes -- we packed up: wet tent, wet everything -- and hauled it out of there, down the Washington Coast (watch out for the killer logs!), into Oregon, across Oregon along the Columbia River, Cascades in there somewhere, back to Idaho, down Idaho to Utah, through Salt Lake City, straight to Bryce Canyon, where, thankfully, it was about 90 degrees and dry as a bleached bone in the desert. We threw the wet tent up under a Ponderosa pine, and we dried out in about five minutes -- BAM! And the blessedly merciless sun burned into my thankfully seared retinas.
