Just bought Certified 2005 XLE w/pkg #7
by eilros on Fri Nov 14 05:47:44 PST 2008
My wife and I just bought a Certified 2005 XLE with 51K, package #7 (DVD, moonroof, leather), spoiler and rubber mats for $16481. We also purchased the Certified Platinum warranty for $980. http://toyotafinancialservices.com/consumer/tfs.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=pg_- TCUVBenifitComparison I'm just curious to find out what other people have been paying for the Certified Platinum warranty. Does $980 sound reasonable?
Extended Warranty - Toyota
by highlanderhyb on Fri Sep 12 09:47:15 PDT 2008
My wife and I went to a local Toyota dealer in California to inquire about Extended Warranty for our 06 Highlander Hybrid. We were given a quote of $1795 for the Platinum Package, 7 years/75,000 miles with zero deductible. When we balked at the quote, we were then told that since the vehicle is nearing 36 months, “you have only a few days to wrap this up.” When we were about to leave, the Finance Manager picked up his phone and supposedly called his supervisor. I said “supposedly” because he began talking far too soon after dialing. His boss must have been just waiting for the call, and grabbed his phone in a flash! After the lightning “conversation,” the manager said his boss had approved a discount – we could get the same coverage for $1595. The new quote was $200 less, and the dealer was not making any money, but “we’re doing it for our customers”. I began searching the internet. Lo and behold, quotes that are more reasonable began appearing. The internet is a great equalizer. It allows car owners to check locally, state-wide and nation-wide. The Internet Extended Warranty Manager at Molle Toyota came through with the most reasonable quote of $645. He beats the next two lowest quotes by $5 and $10, and he beats the highest quote by $1150. There are definitely sharks out there. Let the buyer beware. If you don’t watch out, you can really get conned, and ripped off big time. If you are not sure which warranty plan to choose, go to: http://www.toyotafinancial.com/consumer/tfs.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=pg_NewV- ehicleProtectionPlan then select Protection Plan Comparison Chart to view the different plans available. If you emailed Molle Toyota, you will get a reply with a quote, including a scanned (pdf) copy of the paperwork for you to review. If it looks good, call with your credit card. You may be put on hold, as the call is transferred. Part of the recorded message at Molle Toyota says: “if you don’t buy from Molle, you’ll pay too much.” Based on my experience, this is very true! Molle Toyota is in Kansas City, MO. I want to share this info with everyone on this forum! henry

Complain to the NHTSA - it's their rule, not Ford's. http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/portal/site/nhtsa/template.MAXIMIZE/menuitem.f2217bee37- - fb302f6d7c121046108a0c/?javax.portlet.tpst=1e51531b2220b0f8ea14201046108a0c_ws_M- - X&javax.portlet.prp_1e51531b2220b0f8ea14201046108a0c_viewID=detail_view&itemID=4- - 96bbe634cea0010VgnVCM1000002c567798RCRD&pressReleaseYearSelect=2004

austinman7, Join www.worldkarting.com for $55. They are Mazda S-Plan and will generate an S-Plan PIN for their members. This will get you a no-haggle price of invoice + $255. I'm not sure if the $255 is nationwide, but it is the amount for all of Texas. This is the cheapest legit way to get an S-Plan PIN that I know of. I used S-Plan (along with $500 loyalty and another $500 discount) to get my iGT with 1MC package that had an MSRP of $28,240 for $25,147. The only fee I had to pay was a $50 documentation fee which didn't bother me in the least....some dealers try and charge upwards of $300 for doc fees. Make sure to ask each dealer what their doc fee is as it can vary quite widely. Also ask if they have an advertising fee. The rules of S-Plan clearly state that you can order exactly what you want from the factory (or choose from the dealer's inventory, if they are willing). Here are the details regarding S-Plan: https://portal.mazdausa.com/prod/emazda/intranet/vehicles/vehiclepurchaseplan/he- lp/splan_supplier/brochure/splan_info.htm
Re: Crash Ratings [kevperro2]

I don't see how you can make the assumption that the hatch will provide significantly better structural protection than the sedan. Do you have detailed knowledge of the structural design of the two cars? I have seen other crash test scores where the 2-door was worse in side impact protection than the 4-door: http://www.safercar.gov/portal/site/safercar/menuitem.94b0130be143aeb342252f0835- a67789/?vgnextoid=68adf2905bf54110VgnVCM1000002fd17898RCRD I have also read that the design of a 4-door, with its smaller front door opening and the bracing needed for the other doors, plus the reinforced beam in those doors, makes the 4-door models safer in a side crash. So it could actually be that the Accent sedan has better scores than the hatch. The net of it is, we don't really know if the Accent hatch would fare better or worse than the sedan in a crash. Based on the crash test scores for the Accent, I don't think I want to do a real-world test.

i think you are mistaken on the price decrease. maybe you are comparing an 08 tiptronic to and 09 manual? see the link below for porsche's press release on 09 prices. also, what type of discount are you getting on the 09? http://www.businesswire.com/portal/site/google/?ndmViewId=news_view&newsId=20080- 617006364&newsLang=en
