thank you for that input on safety. Very valid point. Pininfarina-Bollore don't spend too much time on their website touting the car's safety, they do mention, however, that it's going to handle well because of the center of gravity of the battery packs between the axles underneath. Safety looks to me to be an area of concern, but, upon reflection, look at cars like the Chevy Aveo, similar size, heck, look at the SmartCar! Huhh-huh...I just verified that the Pininfarina-Bollore B0 should make it in to the U.S. just fine. Look at how small the SmartCar is, it is, however, very well designed for safety, from what I've read. So, crash-testing is going to be interesting on this one. I put a lot of merit in that testing. BTW-only 2,000 B0's are coming in late 2010. I am going to research this thing to the hilt, gagrice. Stick with me on this one and we'll learn together. Your input is very much respected by me and valued greatly. Thank you! I've got that kid-in-a-candy-store feeling about this car, but my wife is going to be a very difficult sell on this. But, she didn't want our 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS, either, and I think she would admit that it's been a great compact car for the both of us. I can be a feisty Norwegian/English mix, oh yes I can. :shades: If I want something I usually get it. Within reason, of course. This little car is well within reason. Humm...a Pink Floyd song just popped in to my head. Over and out, for this minute, anyway. Come on back now, ya hear?
Interesting counter point/s "opinion"...

E. Floyd Kvamme is partner emeritus at Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers of Menlo Park. He wrote this article for the Mercury News. "Start using real numbers when we talk about energy" Demos have blocked the way to so called "CAFE" standards: ..."after 15 years of stonewalling."... UPSHOT: ..."Let's cut out the misinformation, inform the public of the real numbers and achieve genuine energy leadership." link title AS you will never guess who is a current partner at "Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers of Menlo Park" link title The bad/good news? Starting in 2012 (if the new 35 mpg standards really start being implemented ( defacto being swagged at -19%= 28.4 mpg -same as 27 mpg standard with defacto @ 22 mpg) with 10 M in MY sales,: then to swap out the current fleet (251.4 M/ 10 M) will take 25 years as a minimum. In CA to show progress, the policy has been to get rid of manufacturing jobs i.e., auto manufacturing, where they usually end up overseas. Perhaps Detroit is starting to embrace the CA demo agenda? :lemon: As it has often been said: so goes CALI so goes the rest of the country?

The heat from the sun does not penetrate very far into the planet. It is not what is keeping the core hot. The article does not particularly state it - but the "given" is the physical environment now - which is thwe Sun keeps the outer surface 500F hotter then it otherwise would be. This is the differenc ebetween storing something in the oven at 500F or your freezer. Now if you're saying this makes no difference, then I'll ask you where you took your thermodynamics. Without the Sun the Earth freezes solid. Very little of the Earth's elements are radioactive. Iron will freeze solid. Energy is not created from nothingness. The Sun is responsible for all gravitational energy, motion, and surface warming, which allows the core to stay molten. It is the formation of the Sun that created the gravity that then allowed further dust to accumulate and form the planets. Thus the Sun is the source of the Earth and any geothermal energy. The Sun will also end all life on Earth in about 1 billion when it expands (Red Giant Stage) and it gets hot enough to boil away the oceans. That's about the time our Milky Way (galaxy, not candy) will be meeting up with the Andromeda Galaxy - could be a fun time - maybe we'll get caught in a second star's gravity and be a binary system? That was and is, how much a factor the Sun is. :) A great sun song - "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" - Pink Floyd

I'm a new contributor, and I'd like to talk a bit about the XLR & XLR-V. I first purchased an '06 XLR, loved it! I should also mention that my five previous cars were Vettes, starting in '86. No other car I've owned has gotten so much attention, age, sex of the people didn't matter, everybody had questions, the most common: "What kind of car is that?" Well, after owning the X for awhile I had to jump to the V, and I can tell you, it's a different car!!! Very different, it handles great and has power to spare! Actually, I can see myself getting another in a couple of years. So, if any of you are on the fence and wondering if you should take the plunge, do it! Don't hesitate!!! You'll love the V. If money is tight I would still recommend the X, it's great car, One word of caution, if you buy used stay away from '04s and be sure to get one that is Certified by a Caddy dealership. Happy motoring!! Floyd

I thought the "problem" may have been more prosaic -- cooking brussels sprouts or sauerkraut and having Pink Floyd turned up too loud. :P
