I've noticed that the dealers both in Las Cruces and Alamogordo NM and the two Honda dealers in El Paso TX seem to put all of there Honda vehicles on sale --- except for the Honda CR-V.
Honda CRV BAD EXPERIENCE NEW MEXICO
by zoecody on Fri Jan 05 13:22:26 PST 2007
I went to trade in my 2004 crv for a 2007 do to a letter from the Honda dealership where I bought my 2004. The letter from Jack Key Motors in Alamogordo, N.M. stated they were in need of used crv's they would give me the best trade in value for my 2004. I went in there saying want I needed and wanted was my trade in value and the price I would be paying for my new vehicle. I also stated that I just bought new 70,000 mile tires for my vehicle and would like them transferred on to my new vehicle. NO PROBLEM they said, well 2 days later no figures for me. The sales person left them on his desk and his Manager took them home. A day later someone has been in his office and took it. Third day he can not give me that information till the vehicle got there. Oh the tires wouldn't fit either. Long story short he only offered me 13,000 for my car and wouldn't budge on the price. I told him he could keep the car even though it was on its way. A few weeks later they sent me another letter saying on the spot trade in value would be given upon arrival I called to complain that I was told that untill your purchase vehicle came in they couldn't do that. The sales person convinced me that she'll make it right for me. I came in and they offered me only 11,000 for my 2004 saying it had hail damage worth about 2000.00 I said the other salesman said it was so minor it wouldn't matter, then they accused me of filing a claim with my insurance for the damage and keeping the money. The dent guy says it would cost 500.00 to fix. Needless to say I walked out again.
2004 Corolla LE 4-speed Automatic
by wavemoon on Tue Mar 02 10:24:53 PST 2004
First of all, Thanks to Edmunds.com for their TMV pricing guide and all other valuable info. Secondly, thanks to all posts herein. Bought a 2004 Corolla LE, 4-sp automatic at Desert Sun Motors in Alamogordo, NM (Denver region) on Saturday 28 Feb 04. Basic vehicle Invoice price: $14,098. Options at dealer invoice price: Antilock brakes $258, Side impact airbags $215, Cruise control $200, AM/FM/Cass/CD combo $105, All weather guard $59, Carpet floor mats $54, Trunk mat $35. Total Options $926. Destination charge $515. Total dealer invoice = $15,539. Dealer charged me $15,442 = $97 below dealer invoice. Dealer had vehicle trailered down from Albuquerque at no charge to me! Additional dealer charges = $39.50 License fee and $89 dealer service transfer fee, but no other dealer fees. State sales tax = $515.76 (3% of dealer price, plus 3% of $750 Customer rebate, and 3% of dealer's $1,000 cash-match incentive!) I was sceptical of being taxed on a $750 rebate and a dealer's "cash match" of $1,000, but the manager of our local DMV read the state law to me from her computer terminal! Can't really complain about a 3% sales tax though! Out-the-door cost to me was $16,086.26 which included tax, title and license. Desert Sun gave the best price and quickest delivery over Las Cruces, Roswell, and El Paso. Initial contact with Desert Sun was face-to-face and unpleasant/unhelpful. All other contacts with them and other area dealers was via the Intenet, a convenient, less-hassle means of negotiating. End-of-month buying seemed to influence the dealer's price quote a lot. Mineral-green opalescent exterior, pebble-beige interior. Like the car, don't see the "awkward driving/steering wheel position complaint" oft mentioned in articles. $400 Marketing Support was in effect at time of purchase. Good luck to all, my first Corolla, hope to enjoy its much tauted reliability, fuel econmomy, and comfort.
Boppy's '94 hesitation
by gdblake on Thu Oct 03 04:53:37 PDT 2002
I have a '92 T/C and the engine quit on a trip to Tucson in April. I never had a prob. with this car before. I opened the gas cap and there was a lot of vacuum. After an hr., it started and I got to Alamogordo, NM, and had a garage change the fuel filter (it was ok), and check the pressure of the fuel pump (35 lbs.--30-40 is norm). It stopped again 60 miles from Tucson--vacuum again after releasing cap--started in 30 mins. The L/M dealer there wanted to do a DX and change the pump for $700. I declined--got home to TX and checked my gas cap and the VENT was stuck. I popped it open--lubed the plastic spring loaded disc, and it hasn't happened since. Also thanks to those suggesting changing the differential before 100k. I changed mine at 86 k, and everything was fine, but the oil was black. It cost me $25 at a quick change to have the cover removed, everything cleaned, and 3 qts. of 75-90 fluid.

What is in a name? Outback Forester
by goldencouple1 on Mon May 27 08:23:51 PDT 2002
I have a name for the Outback Forester! The Mescalero! Pretty good huh?! Huh! Subaru Mescalero. Just flows off the tongue. I rejected Chiracahua, Jicarillo, Lipon, and Apache. Commanche was taken. Navajo was used, and their image is too peaceful now anyway -- though they were very much like the Apache once upon a time(even closely related linguistically and historically). Santa Fe is taken and the other cities in NM don't play well. The Farmington? The Truchas? (it means trout) The Antelope Wells? The Alamogordo? (fat cottonwood) The Gallop? The Rosewell? No. There's the El Paso, of course -- but have you ever been to El Paso? Don't name a car after El Paso. The Chihuahua (The Mexican state just across the border)? Chihuahua's slogan is the Big State -- but no...don't name a car the Chihuahua. Jornada...maybe. It means journey. The Gila? Maybe...but it's not pronounced the way it's spelled and it is a bit monsterous. No -- Mescalero! It sounds rugged and ready for anything, with a flair. Subaru Mescalero.
