Re: 2010 Fusion Specs [akirby]

I'm well aware of their relationship.....perhaps the phrase "controlling share holder" should have been more appropriate...BTW, 33.4% is what Ford owns. ;) There continues to be talks about Ford selling their shares, again, I think it's dumb.....even if a sale were to take place, the integration and sharing of technology will continue for years. The B-series is a rebadge, and the name is a carry over from when Mazda actually imported their own pick-up to North America. The rest of the world still gets a true Mazda pick-up. Mazda sells about 1,000 copies of the B-series per year. I have no idea why the continue to offer it :confuse: The Navajo was also a rebadged 1st gen Explorer, but, I think we all knew that.

What about the B-series (Ranger) and Explorer (Navajo)? Ford doesn't "own" Mazda anyway - only 33%. I don't foresee any changes in the working relationship either way.
Re: 07 rio 1.5 crdt- excessive tyre wear [boughtrio5]

Three things. First, kmuircroft, as I recall, "proper English" comprised a considerable body of fine literature when the "natives" of the United States were still speaking a variety of endogenous languages such as Zuni, Iroquois, Navajo, Hopi, etc., etc., and in "proper English" the American word "tire" is indeed spelled "tyre". Second, when joining this forum I was, not required to provide my geographic or ethnic background and suspect that racism, ethnocentrism or simple snobbery with regard to language use are unwelcome and rarely acceptable behavior on forums, e-lists or other online community formats (not that they don't exist). Third, I joined this forum specifically in the hope of receiving guidance and suggestions from other Kia others encountering challenges or having questions. Nothing in your post provided anything of value and I suspect that if this is the style of this particular forum it will be worthless for its declared purpose since people rarely return to risk being "flamed" for no good reason when they post a question in good faith with the expectation of suggestions and guidance. As far as the rapid tire (I spell it this way because I am living in the U.S. If I were living in the U.K. I would spell it "tyre") wear, you might want to consult with the Better Business Bureau and/or the tire manufacturer. The wear does seem excessive. I don't know that I wouldn't replace the tires and hang on to the receipts in order to continue to drive the car, but I would keep pushing for reimbursement. Oh, and on the slim chance that you paid for the car with a credit card you might want to try pursuing reimbursement through the credit card company. Good luck with that, and don't give up until you can say you gave it your best shot and tried every avenue.
Re: Right lane [jensad]

Here's the best link I know of for speed limits by state. BTW, in Texas according to this link and news accounts I have read, parts of I-10 and I-20 in the western part of the state have limits of 80 mph. As far as I know, I-40 has a maximum limit of 75 mph in Texas. One inaccuracy that I'm aware of personally in the link (at least as of March 2007): "other roads" (2-lane highways) in Arizona have maximum limits of 65 mph, not 55 mph. However, in the Navajo Nation in the northeast part of the state, most 2-lane roads (other than US-numbered highways) are posted no higher than 55 mph. Good luck on your trip! I'd like to be doing the same thing.

Your post makes me nostalgic for the holiday we took in the same area in Sep 2002 - two weeks doing the loop from Las Vegas through Zion Park, Grand Canyon, Canyon de Chienny, Mesa Verde, Monument Valley, Painted Desert.... scenery to die for, and so different from home. We stuck primarily to old roads, where we could, to see the country more - and it was empty once you got out of town - except Durango, Colorado, where we managed to arrive at the same time as about a zillion bikers, who were there for the Iron Horse run, even though it was actually cancelled officially, for some reason - they all turned up anyway ! We were just about the only car in the motel car park that night.... I know what you meant about the contrast between LV and the Navajo nation areas, we stayed in Tuba City, and although the hotel area was fine, it was really neglected a few streets away... At the time, we felt a bit unusual because there were far less foreign tourists than we were expecting, as a result of 9/11 I suppose - in fact we were determined to go to US for that holiday because of that, in a way, really to show that we weren't going to be put off travelling by lunatics. I can honestly say I have seldom been to a more friendly part of the world, and we are going to get back in a couple of years....
