"Monument Valley is listed as one of the filming locations in "National Lampoon's Vacation", so that could very well have been the spot where lark went airborne with the Truckster! " Yes, I Tivo'd it and watched it last night - definitely Monument Valley!
So, SUV's Demand Destruction or just Reduction?

That's finally over - a gas price in Harlingen TX was spotted at $1.98 and some drivers are actually looking a little less shell-shocked and hoping the price is going to hold just long enough to get rid of their upside down land barge.... or will they? It was such a sweet ride - looking out over everybody, higher than the other vehicles, tailgating and menacing the snot out of little old ladies, clogging the left lanes when you knew you could actually return to the center or right lane.... I digress however - that's another forum. Is it over? Is this the end of the SUV? Should we drive over to Mel's Monument and Stone Works and pick up a rock with something scrawled on it, something hopefully sarcastic and throw it threw the windshield of the vehicle that weighs in at tonnage instead of pounds? Theoretically there is no such thing as Demand Destruction, they still make buggy whips but it's a real select market now - the Amish have a need still, but for the purposes of the broad economy we can utilize the term. Will the demand for SUV's finally come to an end or just have a reduction? Do you really think the gas prices are going to stay at a couple of bucks or so? Fool me once - shame on you, fool me twice.... You know the saying.....

Looks to be Monument Valley in northern Arizona. ky, I don't think the rocks are red enough to be Sedona. If the above guess isn't correct, then it may be at Devil's Tower in Wyoming (where "Close Encounters" was partially filmed). EDIT - right location, wrong state.
