Re: Symptoms and problem progression... [ram11]

I haven't got it fixed yet. I towed it to AAMCO because they said that they'd be able to do it for a lot cheaper (around $2,000) since they rebuild the existing transmission, not replace it. So, I towed the Van 30 miles to AAMCO in Santa Rosa, owned by Jim and Elaine Babcock from Rincon Valley in Santa Rosa. As it turns out, AAMCO has had the car a week but they can't get the 3rd gear parts. The reason? More and more Honda Vans are failing as they get older. The part is in high demand and ONLY available through the dealerships. I'm told that when AAMCO calls to find out about getting the part, the Honda service people say, "Oh your're looking for the 3rd gear, right?" They already know about the problem. Well, now the cost is at least as high as the dealership with the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. AAMCO said the cost would be $3,400. I'm TRUSTING AAMCO will honor the price that I at least had from the dealership. $2,900 w/ 3/36,000. They've already incurred $675 on the labor, so I"m stuck. They know they've got me. I'd have to pay them $675 for labor, plus the $2,900 to the dealership. I'm waiting for their decision. AAMCO has a chance to show their honorable business practices here. I will let you know.

Giant Rincon here. I started thinking about a road bike myself, but will not get one until I can prove I will ride more consistently. Enjoying the Tour though. Lance is yellow again. Basso looks good and can upset things. Beating on cars - I was mainly talking about the inside. They both need a good cleaning. Outside too, come to think of it. In any event, I saw a 2005, Red GT sedan yesterday. Very racy looking. I tried to subdue my jealousy. greg
Corona Gas Stations
by cal_mag on Mon May 07 21:38:03 PDT 2007
The station behind the post office on Grand is gone and has been for a few months. I get gas in Corona off of Rincon and Cota at the City of Corona Yard. I usually get decent fills there, and the price is around $2.019/gge. It was out of order a few weeks ago but I think it corresponded to a power outage. It was working as of 3 days ago. I live in Corona and work in Anaheim so I go to the Corona and Placentia stations the most. Corona is the cheapest for me.
Re: Towing with a Honda Element [tmeidi]

I have a 05 EX AWD. I have two Honda Rincon ATVs that weigh 600lb each. I have towed them so it probably exceeds the limit with the trailer. I had the factory hitch installed when I purchased the E. I laughed at the 'puny' size when I picked it up. I use an extension on the hitch to attach the 2" ball. Of course stopping and climbing steep grades is an issue. I do not feel comfortable doing this all the time so I may have to break down and buy a more suitable truck or SUV. I wish Honda made a bigger E with a V6 and that would solve all towing issues. A small trailer with a boat will be fine.

I rode about 2 weeks ago. I have a Giant Rincon. The weather since has been snowy and cold. It breaks tomorrow with weather in the 50s and approaching 60F (yeah!) by Friday. I plan to ride at least once this week. I noticed the K2 bikes in the recent reviews in Bicycling and Mountain Biking. I just need to figure out how to schedule a bike routine into my life. Maybe between 2am and 3am. :) Greg

Hey! Cool-of guys. You both are on the extreme opposite sides of the "spectrum". Is RL a truck in traditional form? Of course not. Does it look like one? Yes. Will it handle the job? That's a $46000/CAN. question in my case. Why did i choose RL? Because i wanted a full size SUV with all "bells and whistles", with truck bead and without huge appetite for gas. Why did i choose Honda? Because i have Honda ATV (Rincon 649cc)and this thing is as tuff, as nail (by the way, Honda was first to introduce four wheel independent suspension in that field). Because my son's Honda Civic Has been working flawlesly for past five years and litle V-TEC engine does vonders. Because i love Ford F-150 King ranch but, i hate with pashion Ford dealers, and last, but not least, GM, Toyota and Chrysler just "dont do it" for me. Shimmy. p.s. Check my thread: "My EL-camino"
