sounds as if you have a short in the rubber tube that goes into your drivers door (by the hinges )

Drew VW in La Mesa told me they were selling their Jetta TDIs at MSRP also. Problem is you have to pay CA tax even on out of state sales. Unless they will deliver via the LV dealership.

What year were hundreds of thousand of buyers on waiting lists at VW dealerships when the EPA Police came in and said "No Diesel For You !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Maybe you would like to tell US when there was a waiting list of 100s or 1000s of buyers for any eagerly anticipated vehicle or vehicles. You can call the sales department at Drew VW here in La Mesa CA. Ask them how many requests they get for diesel models every day. They would have bought my Passat TDI for more than invoice if I was not so greedy and wanted MSRP and a little more for it. Just like the Prius. They did not have much demand until a few got out and people gave them a thumbs up. Then they became popular. Same will happen with the diesels that are offered in all 50 states. If the EPA & CARB were not so anal they would have allowed smaller diesel PUs and avoided 100s of 1000s of BIG diesel PU trucks clogging the highways. Running straight exhaust with no PM filter. Those do drop mileage you know.

The Costco in La Mesa, CA has two parking spaces with plug-ins. They used to have two of the stations for the EV-1. I have never seen a car plugged in to them.

"NMSU" Are you a Las Cruces refugee? I served time in Santa Rosa myself. I always said that if we could do with 49 states (or 47 when I lived there), I knew which one to axe first.

that there is much more demand elasticity in gasoline than in diesel. As gasoline prices go up, people may well drive less (turns out they often don't, but. . .) and demand does go down after a sharp price increase. However diesel use is largely commercial & the demand will continue at about the same rate regardless of price -- the trucks, trains & ships that burn diesel (which is a huge percentage of total diesel use -- I'd venture to say 90-95% or more) keep right on running in the face of increasing price, with a corresponding price increase in everything that is hauled or floated. I still pine for the days of 40 cent a gallon diesel purchased in La Grange (TX) in 1978. Two years later it was over a dollar, and diesel prices went up much quicker than gas did.
