Toyota is doing styling and parts-sharing, Subaru is doing the powertrain. That's actually not a bad plan come to think about it... Although Toyota's styling really won't catch anything on fire but it is more promising than what the Subaru has to offer recently. Just out of curiosity though, rumor has it that the coupe will be using Subaru's H4 instead of Toyota's new 2.7L I4. How do these two engines stack up against each other?

I think the chief engineer of the S2000 has just retired, the S2KCR was pretty much a retirement present to him. To be honest, the whole senior Acura team needs to be fired and overhauled.

Hello all. I just got an OK on a black 2009 Touring with RES, and 4WD, for $36,900 including destination (invoice basically). Is now a reasonable time? Will there be a fire sale for Labor day? I'm located in Los Angeles. Thank you!
Important Note to all with A/C problems - file a complaint

In order to bring visibility to this issue, everyone who has had a compressor failure should complain to the NHTSA. If they get enough complaints they may open an investigation. This is what happened with the engine fires in CR-V a few years ago. NHTSA Consumer Complaint form

"The locking up on the highway is always a possibility, one is too many when it happens to you." Well, lots of things are possible. Maybe the cars will start spontaneously driving on two wheels. Or they could launch into space, or catch fire (oops, that one did happen). Seriously, I have not heard of any incidents of the transmission locking up on the highway with AWD CR-V.

"It could very well be the charging device or control unit that overheated the battery causing the fire. I would think that a thermal shutoff would be an essential part of any battery charging device. " Two points: 1. The charger needs to have a sensor that stops charging when the batteries are full. Note this is much easier to implement than a heat sensing system. The $6 aftermarket charger for my cell phone (li-ion) senses the full charge, so it is hard for me to believe that a custom charger for a plug-in car would not also account for a full charge and stop supplying power. To me this means that the batteries overheated while being charged (NOT after being charged), leading to the second point. 2. Customers are going to complain if their batteries are not fully charged when they ran their charger all night, but it cut off due to heat in the batteries. The issue remains the same - do the Li-Ion batteries heat up more than NiMH batteries as they charge, and if so can the problem be fixed?
