Re: Gas Mileage [allmet33]
by tjc78 on Mon Sep 15 08:18:36 PDT 2008
I haven't heard of ANY V-6 vehicle capable of 30+ mpg at speeds above 65 mph. FWIW on a recent road trip (south jersey to Newark airport) my '06 Avalon got 30.5 at a solid 74 MPH for 75 miles or so. On the way home I was little heavier footed 80 - 85 and it dropped to 29.3. This was under ideal conditions (a/c on) with light traffic and I had just filled up 1/2 mile from the highway resetting the AVG MPG indicator. So it is possible under certain conditions. Of course now with putting around the city all weekend and driving to the office this morning average is already down to 25.3.
How many of the 12 million have criminal records?
by dallasdude1 on Sun Sep 07 09:58:57 PDT 2008
By Jon Hurdle PHILADELPHIA, April 3 (Reuters) - U.S. immigration officers violated the rights of suspected illegal aliens by forcing their way into homes in pre-dawn raids, a lawsuit filed on Thursday says. The officers woke suspects in eight New Jersey homes by pounding on doors between August 2006 and January 2008. They ordered children out of beds, shouted obscenities and shoved guns into people's chests, according to the suit filed in federal court in Newark, New Jersey, by Seton Hall Law School's Center for Social Justice and the law firm Lowenstein Sandler. An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) spokeswoman said she could not comment on pending litigation but that "ICE agents conduct themselves professionally." The suit links the raids with "Operation Return to Sender," the immigration agency's campaign to arrest more immigrants, focusing on criminals. Operation Return to Sender ended on June 13, 2006, but immigrants' rights campaigners say its practices continue. The agency said it arrested 2,179 illegal aliens during the three-week sweep, about half of whom had criminal records. There are an estimated 12 million foreign nationals living illegally in the United States. "Our complaint shows that what happened to our plaintiffs in the middle of the night ... was part of a routine, widespread practice, condoned at the highest levels," Seton Hall attorney Bassina Farbenblum said in a statement. The suit was filed on behalf of 10 plaintiffs, nine of them Latino. Five are referred to by pseudonyms because they have an "acute fear" of immigration authorities. Six of the 10 were undocumented aliens, who are entitled under the fourth and fifth amendments of the U.S. Constitution to protection from intrusion into their homes by government officers, and to the right of due process under the law, said Scott Walker, an attorney with Lowenstein Sandler. Plaintiff Maria Argueta was awakened at about 4:30 a.m. on Jan. 29 when agents "pounded furiously" on her door. They entered the house, claiming they were police looking for a criminal, conducted a search without a warrant, and arrested Argueta despite her producing documents showing she was legally in the United States on a temporary basis, the suit says. Argueta was detained for almost 36 hours, denied food and water for the first 24, and released without explanation or apology, the suit says. The complaint names as defendants Julie Myers, assistant secretary for Homeland Security for Immigration and Customs Enforcement; three named senior immigration officials, and 85 others. It seeks compensatory and punitive damages. (Editing by Patricia Zengerle)

Try Scott Honda at West Chester, PA or Martin Honda at Newark, DE. They can still sell below MSRP, but not too much stock, mostly only LX or coupe left.

Just bought my first honda this week. Fit, manual transmission. $500 below sticker price. Dealership is Martin in Newark, Del. *BEWARE* this dealer and a bunch of other Honda places are trying to put a $1,000 "market upcharge" on really in-demand models such as the Fit. Don't fall for it. It was their second to last Fit on the lot. They didn't expect any more until the '09s arrive. The remaining one is a gold Sport, if anyone is interested.

My title says bought new with 14 miles on it. And I put 10 of those miles on it test driving it. Do you think it had a crash on the way to the dealer? Maybe when they were unloading it in the Port Of Newark? I will have to tell hubby when he gets his load to the Port tomorrow to see if he sees more Hondas coming off the container ships as he saw a whole ship full last week. Maybe he can get a look to see how careful they are taking them off the ship and loading the car carriers. :)

I've been a member here since I bought a new CRV in 2006, and I just bought a new Fit last month -- 2008 Sport, AT (because I have a newbie driver in the family), Vivid Blue Pearl. Purchase price was $15,885 in Newark, Delaware. I only had to wait a couple of days for my Fit to arrive on the truck. I've since added the OEM floor mats and rear bumper protector, and the Japanese-market (JDM) coin holder. Soon to be ordered: door sill covers, JDM passenger-side sun visor, and the cargo cover. I love the Fit so far!
