Uh-oh, I see DTM plates. In New Jersey that's a dead give away that the car is owned by the manufacturer. Having worked for a few years in the mid 1990s for MB-USA, I couldn't turn around without seen several DTMs. Then after I left MB, my wife and I built a house on Glen Road in Woodcliff Lake, and if you are familiar with the area you'll know that BMW-USA is located at the corner of Chestnut Ridge Road and Glen Road, right down the street from our house. Yup, you guessed it, more DTM plates. Yeesh! ;) Best Regards, Shipo

Given the sheer number of "Can't go into reverse" complaints from 323i owners, it seems rather obvious that there is indeed a problem and BMW should step up to the plate and offer some form of relief. FWIW, I don't believe that BMW built the automatic transmissions affected (designed by ZF and built by GM if memory serves), however, they put it in their car and they should be the folks who fix it. Geez I'm glad I'll only drive a BMW with a manual transmission; it would indeed be kind of annoying to have reverse go out for no apparent reason. :-/ Another thing to consider is the address posted above. I used to live right around the corner from BMW-USA (literally as their offices are at the corner of Chestnut Ridge Road & Glen Road, I lived on Glen) and so please consider my first hand knowledge of the area when I tell you that the above address is incorrect in two ways. The correct address is as follows: BMW of North America 200 Chestnut Ridge Road Woodcliff Lake, NJ 07677 Both misspelling the town name and using the old zip code (changed in 1999 or 2000 if I remember correctly) will likely result in your correspondence not getting to its intended recipient. I spoke with Toyota of Morristown (even though they are like 45 minutes away) and East Coast Toyota in Wood-Ridge. Unfortunately there isn't much selection around here. I'm GLAD you mentioned your experience with Glen because Ive been in contact with them recently!! But I will avoid them now. I will say this about Prestige: they were very fast in giving me back my deposit (which was large). They didnt try to keep it. However, their business practices in other areas were questionable. The things that bothered me the most were being screamed at by the business manager, not even receiving a call from anyone at the dealership saying they were sorry that the deal fell through, being stuck with a salesperson the entire way through the process that I didn't like (just seemed like everything he said was either inaccurate or a lie), and of course what happened with the financing. We're talking about a $25,000 car here, I expected to be treated a bit better. They tend to get very cocky because they are usually very crowded and have people lined up to buy cars. Oh well. Let me know if you find a decent dealer, and I'll post if I find one and a pleasant experience!

Reiz, I don’t know if they do this with cars, however, for bicycle tires, the way they figure the “Max” pressure is to pump the tire up until it either explodes or the bead pops off the rim (and then the inner tube usually explodes). They then, they halve the number where the fault event occurred, that then becomes the “Max” PSI which we see printed on the sidewall. IndyLowFlyer, Our 5ers with SP (or any other SP equipped 5-Series for that matter) are designed to run north of 150 mph (even though my U.S. spec 530i is limited to 128) all day long, as such, by design, they are one of the most stable cars at speed in the world. Which is another reason why I immediately suspected tire pressure problems with SergeyM's 540i. When my Michelins wear out, I will be taking a long look at the Dunlops that you have on your car as a replacement tire. As for my car, a letter from BMWNA last week said it would be in the harbor yesterday, however, the Wallenius web site http://www.wlna.com shows today as the arrival date. Either way, it looks like my car should be at the VPC by this evening. ;-) When I contacted my insurance company, I scheduled next Monday (20-May) for the start date of the coverage; I hope that is not being too optimistic. NycCarGuy, You should hang out around the corner of Chestnut Ridge Road and Glen Road in Woodcliff Lake more often, there are LOTS of 525i SPs running around, not to mention just about every other bit of rolling stock that the "Boys from Bavaria" have their fingers into. ;-) Best Regards, Shipo

Chestnut Ridge Road? Which one, the one in Montvale/Woodcliff Lake or the one in Saddle River? This is a small world, I live on Glen Road, less than a mile from the Chestnut Ridge Road/Glen Road intersection (right by BMWNA). Best Regards, Shipo

Actually, BMWNA is located at the corner of Chestnut Ridge Road & Glen Road; I live less than a mile from that corner on Glen Road. Incidentally, I recently saw on a Historical Society map that Glen Road has been in existence since at least the late 1700s. Given that this little road winds up a hill along the southern edge of a glen caused by Bear Creek, my guess is that it was probably an Indian path long before it was called Glen Road.
