Re: Mazda3 Vs. Honda Civic
by lordzeigfred on Fri Feb 10 07:23:29 PST 2006
im laughing at you guys. well, i have driven both mazda 3s and civics coz my friends have them. i am asian as well as my friends here and we sometimes do random race at atco with our stock cars for fun. the civics regardless of it's engine and other specifications worth mentioning is pale compared to the mazda 3s. on the other hand the mazda 3 handles the way it was meant to be. if i have to choose one i'd go with the mazda. we are not talking about what car year ok because i had tried most of them 1995-up cause they changed cars as often, we exchanged or borrowed them like girlfriends, too. now comfortwise and all that interior stuff which really doesnt matter to me, well, both are good. but to tell you the truth, these two are just comparable if not at all to a dodge neon with the 150 hp on it. i've seen it many times the lowly neons take on these civics and now this mazdas effortlessly. i am asking the same questions as my friends cause we own these civics and mazdas and here is a neon just so effortlessly hums by. well, civics and mazda owners if you've got a chance try to provoke a neon with yours and see for yourself. i'd seen it many times. i've been thinking that comparisons are just one way of branding, right? but the real test is out there happening all the time. civics, yeah it's good and so is the mazda 3 and even the toyotas that i've driven but i havnt seen it whip a neon, well, maybe granny neon but not a funky neon. think again. hope this helps. and comparisons? compare both to a neon instead. id buy mazda 3 or 6 though, aesthetically that is, and yes, hope it runs quick, too.

Refering to the DRIVER,You can say that again, I went to Atco Raceway last Thurs. (Wed. at Raceway Park) and after meeting another Grand prix owner, he showed me how to launch my car and i ran a 13.905 @100.57 & 13.811 @100.96, from a best of 14.1 @98 from the night before,100% Stock!!! dropped my 60's to 2.067 from 2.2..One thing FWD isn't is easy to launch, easier to launch my old Mustang GT (and that was stick). Has anyone run their Chargers yet??

When you thought it couldn't get better...I went to Atco Raceway last night and my 1st run was an identical 14.1 @98, then that stupid bog down thing happened again and i went faster mph wise but the time was a ridiculous 14.5, thats when I got help, in a big way, this guy Steve was running his 97GTP and we began to talk, i mentioned my problem and he knew right away what it is..It's the Torque Management System, if the computer see the torque multply to quick, to prevent the input shaft from twisting it activates the traction control even though it is off, so i had to work around that by leaving softer, but not too much..heres the ground breaking numbers...13.905 & 13.811 both over 100 (100.57 & 100.96) 1) R/T .325 60' 2.104 330 5.842 1/8 8.970 MPH 78.56 1000 11.580 1/4 13.905 MPH 100.57 2) R/T.380 60' 2.067 330 5.784 1/8 8.895 MPH 78.97 1000 11.494 1/4 13.811 MPH 100.96 I cannot tell you how happy i am, my goal was a high 13 out of my car and I'm done..STOCK!!! i thought it would take an exhaust or cold air intake or programmer, but NOPE, if you live near a track try it yourself you'll have fun,and you'll never wonder, what could my car have run??I know for a fact, so at the car shows next summer I can back up my GXP. that was a quick drag racing career, 8 runs to accomplish my goal.not bad Pontiac... Not to bad at all. Also, I was kicking the crap out of Mustangs and Neon SRT-4's, all 14.0 or slower (not the new mustang, i met an 05 owner 5spd who was running 13.5's with a programmer and air intake and 11k miles on it..Come to think of it thats not that quick for what it's got, GXP looks better from every aspect!!

I ran at the track last night with a guy that had the K&N cold air intake kit on it and he ran a 14.6 & 14.4 both at 96MPH...He also had a cat-back Magnaflow exhaust, i thought these Chargers would be faster than my GXP, but so far I keep watching them run mid 14's, has anyone here ran better? By the way i run a 2005 Grand Prix GXP, stock (mostly because there's not a performance part on the market from anyone yet), it ran first time last night at Englishtown, 2k miles on it posted a 14.138 @98.39 with a 2.122 60'..temp was 64-69F..I'm going to hit atco before Nov. should hit 13.9 or better there (breaking in, colder and Atco always quicker due to the elevation)

Entire wiper arms on some cars are amazing easy to steal - on my van you just pop a little clip off with a penknife blade and you can walk off with the entire arm, wiper blade and all. I'm surprised yahoos aren't taking them and tossing them into the trash just for meanness. At least in your case they just stole the blades, and I wouldn't worry about putting Atco or other non-OEM blades on. Something tells me you'll be able to find replacements easily on eBay soon :-( Steve, Host
