Actually...

the impetus is really on them(GM) and Congress should not have to be even considering this. All those flippin' years of building large pick-em-up trucks and huge soccer Mom SUV's and ignoring the car market has come back around on them. As well as giving in to the UAW for decades. Now it's a huge mess and Johnny and JoAnne taxpayer are being called upon to bail the water out of the Titanic. BTW-I don't recall Captain Smith giving out the command to farepayers on the Titanic "Everyone man their bailout stations and help us get all of this nasty water out of this beautiful new White Star liner!" He did say that the ship was inevitably going to sink and something to the effect that this is going to be nasty for everyone concerned. He may have uttered a bumbly "God help us all", remember that from the movie? Anyone watched it lately? Remember this statement: "There's no worries, M'am...I've just ordered the boiler room to light an additional two boilers. We're speeding up!" Remind anyone of some huge corporation just a little bit? We're going to continue to ignore customer complaints and just hurry up and build more Tonka trucks for all of the Toby Keith's out there in America! And there are a lot of Toby Keiths out there, I seem to move to places where people just love GMC/Chevy/Ford/Dodge trucks.
2009 Mini clubman S Lease
by martint on Thu Nov 13 23:45:38 PST 2008
I just ordered a clubman S from Bob Smith Mini near Los Angeles to lease. $1700 drive off, 67% residual 10K miles a year. Price was MSRP $24,700, $351 a month including tax. I thought it was reasonable. Before I ordered I went to Universal Mini. Told them what I wanted. They came back with.....get ready for this.....$3000 markup,$1000 lojack, $300 for nitrogen for tires, $5300 drive off and $461 a month!!!! That is a difference of around $12,000 on a $24,700 car!! When I told them of the deal I had at Bob Smith they came back with almost same deal as Bob Smith except payment was $363/month. They dropped all the other markups and charges. I think we know what dealer to stay away from.

. I was wearing very dark sunglasses and a phony big nose, since I value my privacy and wish to keep my identity a secret.. I knew it all along Howard . The Federal Witness Protection Program would disallow you to reveal your true identity anyways. Almost every man who is in that program is named Howard. Below is a picture of Howard Smith who is also in the program but is not wearing sunglasses and a phony big nose:
Failing companies?

What is really failing here is the UAW.

I believe that the Volt can go an estimated 40 miles on electic motors alone. At that point, a small gas engine kicks in to power/recharge the electrics. The gas engine does not drive the wheels directly. Have long been disgusted with GM and the arrogance they displayed in contnually building non-competitive cars, updating the body every few years, sometimes slapping another badge on 'em (yeah, Cimarron) and thinking that they could fool most of the people all of the time. This was one of the most powerful corps. on earth, full of talented engineers and " car people." But, run by bean counters (Roger Smith!), and run into the ground. It appears that slowly GM is coming around, maybe too late? 'Twould be a shame to fade away now, but the sins of the past have finally apparently placed a stranglehold upon The General. Thanks to the UAW, too... I'm not sure putting "Government people" in charge would be the answer. Maybe some car people/businessmen. Lutz ain't too bad a start?

I feel like doing something evil then committing suicide so I can go to hell to find Roger Smith and thrash him for eternity for what he did to my beloved GM! Buck up. Keep stiff uppper lip. It's only a consumer product. GM will receive a transfusion from Obama/Reid/Pelosi. But, this is their last shot. They have got to get rid of too many brands and other stupid excesses with unions and bad philosophy to hang profits on gas guzzling models. The key to their survival is diminution of union influence in running day-to-day business matters. Of course, retiree benefits packages/promises hang over.
