Re: The Guy in the Prius... [lemko]

Vipers and Harleys don't work where I live. All they portray is a reflection of what they are---crude and noisy. "Know Your Audience" right? Isn't that what the best entertainers do? I realize that savagery has a visceral appeal, I"m not denying it, but man you ride a Harley in San Francisco and you're going to be drinking beer by yourself in a bar with broken windows and a noisy ceiling fan. Good luck, pard. Not that I would consider a Prius a ticket to paradise for a man or woman on the prowl--that's pretty silly, too. But a Prius has a lot of appeal to techno-geeks, and if you are in Geekland, like Silicon Valley area, it makes sense that you will get kudos for driving one. It's like driving an iPhone. They are almost non-cars in a way. At least I respect the Viper for what it can do on a race track. And I respect the Prius for what it can do technologically. The Harley to me is just a marketing success, I don't get why anyone would actually want one. It's not a very good motorcycle, and I've driven many types of bikes. It's about as sexy as a washing machine to me. :P

Spokavegas!?!?! hehe I know we have a lot of tribal casinos over here, but so do you guys! Yes, I do get over there once in awhile, usually for a Mariners game. We'll keep that in mind should the opportunity arise. Darling daughter & I are making a whirlwind trip next week (26/27) Just got back from 10 days in camping paradise @ Priest Lake State Park, ID. Sounds like I'm glad I missed the upgrade :) Back to catching up on posts and laundry! Cheers! Paul

Here's the skinny, right from the bosses mouth: The whole mountain is yours, $3500 for up to 300 people. Food/beverage/alcohol extra. Catering available, extra. Most excellent ski patrol, no extra charge :) Given the general atmosphere of the place, and the quality of the snow, I gotta say - this is a bargain. Today: base temp peaked at 44F. Spring snow all over the place. Blue sky, sunshine, not too crowded (5 min lift line max). Skier's paradise, on the ID/MT border on I90. Cheers! Paul
Audi Part II
by merc1 on Thu Oct 12 22:06:27 PDT 2006
This is the type of buzz and image making that Audi needs in the U.S: This morning New Yorkers on their way to work were greeted with Audi's Park Avenue parade that marked the R8's first official drive on U.S. soil and the opening of the company's new Audi Forum located at 250 Park Avenue. Autoblog reader Ahmed M. was on hand and armed with a camera phone. He sent us these pics of the R8, R10 Le Mans racer and 1938 Auto Union Type D Silver Arrow, the latter of which was one of the world's first mid-engined racecars. NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg was reportedly on hand to deliver the R8 to the Forum, which is not a dealership but rather a brand awareness space that will educate New Yorkers on the Audi experience and can also host events up to 150 people. The CLS63 and CLK63 will all be at Geneva. The regular CLS and CLK models should also be shown with the new 5.5L V8 from the S550 at this time also. M
ULSD not available in Arizona...what a SHAME and a SHAM
by larsb on Mon Nov 14 07:16:56 PST 2005
I guess ULSD is not available in AZ. This is from a recent webpost at a diesel news site: "Paradise Valley Unified School District #69 – Phoenix, Ariz. The Paradise Valley Unified School District will demonstrate how a large, suburban school district near Phoenix, Ariz. will retrofit 20 buses with particulate matter filters, fuel 114 with ultra low sulfur diesel and introduce this fuel into an area of the country where it is not currently available."
