The use of mass transit becomes mandatory. So I guess that means if you live in, say, Tonopah, Nevada, you either walk or ride a bike (or a horse).

The key word for 2-lane roads is "much less" crowded. Certainly in Nevada and Utah, that was the case last December. On one stretch of US 6 east of Tonopah, NV, you could see the road 21 miles ahead (I measured it). On this same stretch we met maybe only 3 oncoming vehicles in 150 miles. (Speed limit is 70 mph, BTW.) Of course, there are very few intersections and not many driveways -- not enough water, hard to survive there. No bicyclists or motorcyclists either in the 20-degree weather. We did see wild horses (mustangs?) well off to the side.

What a coincidence regarding the Maxima team. They drove on US Route 6 through Nevada, and stopped at the Tonopah Historic Mining Museum maybe 2 or 3 days after we were at the very same place! We could have bought that last Tonopah centennial commemorative coin ahead of them! Fascinating town -- rather run down, literally in the middle of nowhere (desolate but spectacular), with lots of neat old cars in running (or nonrunning) condition, often parked in front yards with other junk lying about. Rust is not an issue. At the musuem, they actually let you go unattended into the old building at the head of the mineshaft. There are boards missing in the elevated floor, plus gaps in the corrugated metal walls that you can easily fall through or out! You can still operate the levers for the mine (not connected to anything anymore). The machinery was made by Westinghouse in Pittsburgh, my home town. There also was an old fusebox made by Square D, just like the one in my childhood home.

A couple of the N-S state highways within NV make US 50 look busy by comparison. From Tonopah up through Austin on 376, then 305 up to Battle Mtn, then picking up 120 North of Winnemucca on NW into Oregon provides lots of solitary driving. But, it's all good.

I have a Lance (11.5) and would to know if anyone has installed golf cart batteries in one of these and where they put the batteries, I don't believe that they would fit in the regular battery compartment. We do alot of wilderness camping east of the White Mts toward Tonopah, got a generator, but would like to get a setup with solar and golf cart batteries for the Lance. The factory dosen't seem to much input on something like this
