All around issues with my '97 expedition

:confuse: First I want to start out by saying that Ford is a car that I will never buy ever again. I purchased my car with 70k miles on it. The first problem was the brakes that had to be replaced two months after purchase. Come to find out the brakes where forced on and they where on backwards. I did not purchase my car at a buy here pay here place. It was purchased at Keith Hawthorn Ford Dealership. I said that because dealerships say that they do 12 point inspection before they sell their cars. Not True. Second, three months after that i had to replace my ball barons ( if I am saying this right) on both sides of my car. Costing more than1,000.00. Third, the curse control had to be fixed twice because of a recall. Forth and so on and so on my spark plugs ( if i am naming the right item again) was constantly misfiring and I was continusly replacing. Then the bracket that holds the windshield wipers broke 6 times since i have had this car for the past 4 years. My windshield wipers are always going out. I have had a full tune up twice in one year , this is the first year of the purchase. The first year and a half of having my 1997 expedition i forked out 3,500.00 or more. The repairs never and still have not stopped. This car was not worth 17k and never have received a phone call from the owner of Keith Hawthorn. I have been calling him from day one and till tis day I haven't heard a thing. I even go up there and sit and wait ............nothing. Who else has had this problem and what should I do? To save some time. I can't trade it in because of the miles ( i kept the oil changed on or before time because of my traveling) everywhere I go I find myself fixing something else. Tune ups where done more than need the car will be paid for by the end of this year.

There are downsides to that as you know. You will probably have to go into that area every couple/few years and cut down and put roundup on stumps of obnoxious garbage young tree growth such as boxelder, hawthorne, and pesky wild shrubs. Yeah, our biggest pests around these parts are these thorny flowering pear trees, sweetgum (stickerball trees), and wild honeysuckle bushes. They all seem to grow quicker than everything else, and just take over. There's one corner of my yard that I'm letting reforest. I still cut a few paths through there that I can drive the tractor, but it just takes four or five quick swipes. I've planted a few other trees in there, such as oak, walnut, maple, pine, etc. I just go around every once in awhile and pull out anything that threatens to crowd out these trees. I'm also out in a fairly rural area where you can get away with this. If I was in a housing development with tidy little quarter acre lots or whatever, I'd never dream of it. I'm on about 4.25 acres though, and of that, I'd say at least 2/3 of it is forested. We have paths cutting through it here and there, but for the most part I just let nature run its course. I'll pull vines off of a tree that appear to be choking it, or if I see some trash tree crowding out a tree that I like better, I might cut down the trash tree. But for the most part, nature seems to know what its doing.

That didn't include areas I have to get with the push mower though, for spots the tractor can't get into. I've been slowly letting parts of her yard and my yard reforest. There are downsides to that as you know. You will probably have to go into that area every couple/few years and cut down and put roundup on stumps of fast-growing obnoxious garbage young tree growth such as boxelder, hawthorne, and pesky wild shrubs. I have pushed back some portions of our woods and let grass creep in. Even with cost of gas near $4, I will pay this and cut the grass rather than the tedious task of periodic clearing.
Re: Recommendation for service in NJ? [irbrenda1948]

I'm curious why you would want service in NJ when you live on Staten Island. Do you work in NJ? Anyway, Paul's Motors in Hawthorne (Passic County) has an excellent reputation. I arranged my overseas delivery C70 through them and I have had them do my routine maintenance and factory recalls and updates. They have treated me very well, although it took three tries to get a mirror memory problem fixed. Apparently only one other C70 in the world had the same issue.

Your memory is right on target. That box in the trunk had long springs in it and if you were driving fast and you had a wheel out of balance on your car, it would make a noise like someone dropping chairs in an auditorium. I really liked the vibrasonic sound myself. they were 39.95 at the time, a lot of money. Ford called their version "Studiosonic Sound" and they were VERY rare on Fords. Buick and Pontiac seemed to use them the most. And, before car stereos, we used to mount record players under the dash. You loaded 45's through the bottom and it played through your radio speakers, vibrasonic included if you had it. Those record players were VERY hard on records. The needle looked like a roofing nail and if you hit a bump hard enough the needle would skate across the record. There was always black dust under those things from the records. Then the 4 track tape decks came out. These were made by Muntz or Craig. I had one of the first ones. It came from the ORIGINAL Leo's on Hawthorne Blvd. in Torrance CA. I bought it from Leo himself.
