If you go to the Chevy dealer you see a Malibu. If you go to the next door Pontiac dealer you see the same exact car, it just says Pontiac G6 on it! GM basically rebadges exact vehicles and then all dealers get product, yet GM only has to support two "real" brands, as the cost of new badges is minimal. That could work. It was proven in recent election where voters were conned into voting for a guy with no credentials. There is the old saying of a Sucker born every minute which was proved with Obama. There are still enough fools who would believe Elmer Gantry, Jim Baker and his wife and a Pontiac/GMC dealer about a rebadged Malibu being an upscale Pontiac

the dealer that provided me with the best Internet quote was Baker Jackson Nissan (South) here in Houston - a dealer that appears consistently competitive because he has also been mentioned by another poster on this site. If the Nissan dealers in the Portland area are inflexible then it would appear that the Rogue must be in higher demand in your particular area . How far you might have to travel and the value of your own time would seem to argue against a 2000 mile road trip!

$1500 is worth not having to pour out Thousands for a replacement depreciating asset. While in Boulder, CO on vacation after descending Rocky Mt. N.P. our 95 T Bird required two new front rotors, pads, rear rotors were turned, + new pads, but the major unexpected expense was having to replace the heater core. The core was only $99, but the labor was very high due to having to remove the front bucket seat and pull back the dash board to get to the core. Had we traded it on the spot for a late Mustang, they wouldn't give much as is. Were we to sell it to a friend back home, we'd have to fix it first, so after doing the repairs, why not drive it ourselves. It's a 4.6 V8 and at 60 mph we got 31.5 mpg between Tremonton, UT and Baker City, OR. Mileage on the car = 113,657. :) :)
The truth is ....
by 1stpik on Thu Aug 07 05:36:02 PDT 2008
.... that a company called Baker made and sold electric cars more than 100 years ago. Jay Leno owns one, and drives it occasionally. Any company that presents an electric car today as "new" or "innovative" is just a century behind the curve. Now, I could credibly argue that if automakers chose to develop electric motors 100 years ago instead of gas/diesel engines, we'd STILL be no better of today than we are with OPEC. Some other cartel would have developed to restrict the supply of electricity. The government would still tax it several times between the producer and the consumer, just like oil and gasoline. And we'd still face an occasional "crisis" during which politicians would seek higher taxes and new powers for themselves. But maybe the air would be a bit cleaner.
