Cancelled my XM subscription
by bryan on Tue Nov 18 14:25:22 PST 2008
Got in my car Friday, 11/14 for the three hour drive to the eastern shore; discovered channel 83 (Chrome) and channel 82 (BPM?) were no longer "tuneable". These two channels were the main reason I have subscribed since 2004. I renewed for three years in May '08. I'm almost 55, and am truly a child of the 70s and 80s (disco and dance music). I went channel by channel to try and find my two beloved stations, hoping they were reprogrammed to different channel numbers. No such luck. So, I called XM to find out what's up, and when I finally got to speak with a rep, learned that these two channels were "retired". After much back and forth, I could not get a straight answer as to why they would cancel, I mean "retire", these two stations. I got tired of the reps "company-speak" and cancelled my XM subscription. I just don't listen to the other stations--I've tried but always found myself coming back to channels 82 or 83. Getting it cancelled took some time, as the rep tried and tried to get me to agree to not cancel, or how about a one-year trial half-price membership and we'll refund the other two years you. That's when she said our conversation was being recorded and she needed me to commit to this offer. At that point, I had had enough of this junk. I cancelled that account, and since I was being recorded, made sure I was specific as to my wishes and learned that I should be getting my refund in two to four weeks. I remained civil through the entire half-hour it took for me to get my business done, and requested that she pass on my unhappiness and the recorded portion of my call to the higher-ups. Back to CDs for me.

and did not buy the HH for business in 2007, ended up with a 4Runner. However, I did purchase a HH 4wd last night and after reading the latest comments feel it will serve me perfectly well for my personal use in mild winter weather country.
2009 Highlander Hybrid
by wvgasguy on Tue Nov 18 06:26:16 PST 2008
Picking mine up today. MSRP $41,679 / Purchase for $37,500. Blizzard Pearl 4wd. Wanted leather, but didn't want all the other goodies that the Limited seem to have as mandatory options. So this one is the base hybrid with the Popular Plus Pkg, Auto Dual Zone Climate Control, Auto Rear A/C, floor mats (carpeted and all-weather and the factory tow hitch w/ wiring harness. Traded a Camry Hybrid with 63,000 miles and was given close to KBB "Private Party Value" Overall I'm extreemly happy to have the HH. Look forwards to posting here.
08 MDX Base
by dc7900 on Mon Nov 17 06:53:19 PST 2008
I purchased an 08 MDX Base in MD (suburban Washington DC) the end of last week. I paid $33,200, which included destination and processing fees, but did not include MD tax, title and tags. The information provided in this forum was extremely helpful. Thanks you to all. I emailed several dealers in the Northern Virginia and Maryland area at the beginning of last week, and received a few quotes in this ballpark. I think I could have gone a few hundred dollars lower but a lot of 08 MDX's were moving off the lots last week, and I was trying to make sure my preferred color was still available.
2009 LE
by flymuch on Sat Nov 15 19:08:41 PST 2008
Just bought a new 2009 LE with alloys, value package #2, floor mats and windshield de-icer. This is a pretty standard configuration and we had no trouble finding several dealers who carried this exact car. We ended up buying from Battlefield Toyota in Culpeper Virginia and really got great service and zero hassle! List price on this Slate beauty was $27,950. My offer (with $1000 rebate) was $23,900 plus TTL based on other VA and MD dealers just up the road. We settled on $25,125 OTD, which was within my comfort zone. Essentially $4000 off the list. I couldn't be happier. Don't pay one cent more!!
