Legacy observations
by twrx on Thu Oct 07 06:33:53 PDT 2004
Here are a few new thoughts about my new Legacy: 1. It's like an an Accord with an attitude. 2. I'm really proud of my home state workers--build quality is so fine. 3. Homer would say, "MMMMM, Comfort!" 4. Silver is so slick looking and its the color to have with this model and all the metallic trim inside. 5. Too early for an ice or snow storm--I really want to try out the wiper and mirror heaters. Boxer growl on this car is just as cool sounding as the turbo whine on WRX. 6. New mileage report, city only, coming soon. The Subaru owner that was formerly known as "TWRX" or "YWRX" but will henceforth be known as "Paleo" Paleo
Re: Why car salesman get a bad rap. [homerj31]

Good story Homer. The saleman made some booboos for sure: Somebody else at the dealership might be in charge of putting cars on eBay, and might not be coommunicating that with the floor staff. The salesperson should be aware of it but he might not be. I have cars on some sites (Cragislist) that are usually less than on our website, but I state that the prices are available ONLY through the Internet Manager (me), and I don't have the dealership name listed (only that it's a dealer #XXXX, and my cell number). His biggest mistake was talking price over the phone/email. I never, ever, ever give discount over the phone. Especially if they haven't seen the car, or driven it yet. Never ever ever......ever............ :surprise:  ever!!!!! I bet that if he said "I'll give you the best price possible to make you happy", Homer would have done his research, found that car on eBay, and came in with the ad, there might have been a deal there. Now because the saleman shot himself in the foot, and talked price, and fumbled on it, and Homer caught him on it, he lost Homer's trust and a possible deal. When Homer caught him on it, he should have backed tracked and explained himself, instead of staying silent. He might have regained Homer's trust. Would he regain your trust Homer, or would you not consider the car even if it was in your price range?

Seems like the "buy it now" price of 24,750 for his car will give the dealer some kind of profit. Thanks for an interesting story and for joining in Homer. I could be wrong, just guessing, but I think the website is managed by the dealer and they won't be paying any commission on the sale. The salesman's commission is built into his price. They probably are counting on the fact only 5% of the people would go on line and put it all together. The salesguy is coming on a bit strong, but you did call him and he is just trying to sell you a car (and hoping you don't know how to find it online).

When Homer Simpson was presented with a military-grade deep fryer that could flash-fry a buffalo in 40 seconds, he replied, "Forty seconds? But I want it now!" Even sad-sack Homer can teach us something, and this time it's that even if you overachieve beyond the wildest of expectations, universal acceptance can be elusive. 2008 Toyota Tundra Supercharged by TRD Follow-Up Test
To talk about mid-size sedans.
by carfanforever on Fri Sep 12 16:09:49 PDT 2008
I love the new Mazda 6. That car is gorgeous, and the handling and power sound right on the money. The outgoing model was a three-run homer, this one is a grand slam! I have owned Camrys, Accords, Luminas, Maximas, Grands Prix, and many other mid-sized sedans too. I love the new Chevy Malibu too. We need an SS version. The Camry is sharp and very attractive. The new Accord is a huge improvement over the looks of the older model. The Altima is great, sports car handling with musclecar speed. I am in love with the new Maxima. The Ford Fusion is a stylish and sporty little car. The mid-sized sedan category just might be the most varied and interesting one in all of new automobiledom.
