Mileage
by donl1 on Sat Nov 01 10:04:04 PDT 2008
I have a 07 Premier with the automatic and get between 29 and 31 if it's mostly highway driving...with an average speed between 50 and 60 as displayed by the DIC. I have seen better on just highway driving but the city mileage beats it down before I would gas it up.
09 purchase!
by tentoes49 on Sun Aug 17 17:05:20 PDT 2008
Hi everyone, I just purchased (three weeks ago) a 09 X2.4 with premium package, automatic trans, all weather package, cargo cover, mats, rear bumper cover. It was $23,111.00 otd. List was $25,435.00. The problem was finding the one I wanted. They go pretty fast. The first dealer I contacted said they do not discount them at all, as they are very hot. I did some work on the internet and got some other quotes. I am in Omaha NE. I didn't want a turbo, or L.L. Bean. So far (1000 miles) I am very impressed with the car. It went out on the hiway today for about 100 miles, and the milage went up to 26.3 with mixed hiway/city driving. I did not get the extended warranty. I was told I could get it anytime after the purchase. It was through Subaru, and they wanted $1000.00 to take the warranty out to 70,000 miles. I don't know if its a good deal on these or not. My wife will drive this 10-12 K mile per year. Taxes are out of sight in Nebraska. With my 7% sales tax, and motor vehicle, and wheel tax, it will be $1990.00 to get it legal. No wonder people go to South Dakota or Iowa to register their cars.
3 Dakotas (1-03 2-05s) Commute & Highway
by remav on Fri Aug 15 10:46:26 PDT 2008
My commute is a very good mix of driving of about 22 miles. 9 miles of city/paved hilly country roads 25mph to 45mph, no stops 7 miles of state routes 45mph to 55mph with stoplights av 1/mi. and 6 miles of flat freeway, 55mph to 65 mph. 2003 2WD Sport Ext. Cab V6 3 spd Auto could NOT get 20mpg on this. 19+ multiple times really trying, but usually 17.5 to 18.5. Highway driving it would pull 22. 2005 2WD Club Cab SLT V8 5spd Auto would get 20mpg on this commute. Jersey to Pittsburgh holding steady 65 I got 24 going out empty, and 22 coming back with 1000 lbs of computer hardware in the bed. K&N Air filter is only add-on. 2005 4WD Quad Cab V8 5spd Auto Laramie has held 19mpg on the commute, but any side trips in town & it quickly falls to 16.5 to 17.5. Long drives yield 20-22 highway. I was impressed that the V8s did as well as or better than the '03s V6.

Actually location (weather and pollution) plays a large role in tire cracks (usually harmless). I always had cracks with every brand in the DC area. I don't out in South Dakota. Ozone is an ingrediant in smog and we don't have any of that here. Large cities do.

My daughter and son-in-law have a 3.8 2006 GC SXT and I had a 2003 3.3 GC SE. Mileage on both are about the same as my 2008 SXT. Right now the computer says I'm averaging 20.9 combined city and highway. The best my 08 has gotten was around 26 on a long trip (65-75 mph), and the worst was a period of around 16-17 for the first few hundred miles when it was new. It has pretty much stayed in the 20-22 range during day-to-day driving since then.

you need to re-do the math. 45 liters= 11.89 gallons. 380 miles divided by 11.89 gallons equals= 31.96 mpg, not 38.39. I have a 97 corolla 1.6 liter engine with a 3 speed automatic tranny and I am getting 34 mpg combined (city and highway driving). I get 38.7 mpg on the highway which is 30% more than the EPA estimate and I live in the mountains. How I do it? I put 4 more psi in my tires, I have a K&N air filter, and I put 2.5 ounces of Acetone per 10 gallons of gas when I fill up. Now I know the acetone mpg increase is SUPPOSEDLY a myth, and even Mythbusters busted this myth. What Mythbusters and everyone else don't realize is the first tank of gas with Acetone is basically cleaning your fuel system so you wont see much of an increase in mpg. You will see an increase in mpg on the second fill-up but it's the 3rd fill-up is when you see your maximum increase in mileage. I have been using Acetone in my corolla now for 2 years and my car has more horsepower and idles sooooo smooth now. Adding acetone does not work the same in all cars. I only get extra 3 mpg in my 85 Ranger pickup (V6-5 Speed) with 3 oz pr 10 gallons and 5 xtra mpg in my 92 Ranger pickup (4 cyl-5 Speed). I tried it in my Dad's 2008 Dakota quad cab 3.7 liter engine during a cross country road trip with NO increase at all, we actually got 1 mpg less. Like I said acetone does not work in all cars. For those of you who want to try it in your car, you must experiment to find the correct acetone to gas ratio. Mine is 2.5oz per 10 gallons gas. Try 1 oz pr 10 gals gas first time and record your mileage, then try 2 oz pr 10 gals gas and record it, if your mpg increased the try 3oz pr 10 gals gas. It's recomended NOT to use more than 4 oz pr 10 gals gas. When you start to see a decrease in mpg, then cut back 1/2 oz pr 10 gals gas at a time till you find your peak mpg. Thats how I got mine at 2.5 oz pr 10 gals gas and I think it would be the same for all 92-97 corollas with the 1.6 liter engine. You can purchase Acetone at Lowes, Walmart, Home Depot in the Paint Dept. I recommend buying PURE Acetone from a Beauty Supply Store as the more pure the Acetone, the better the increase in mpg. Also, ALWAYS use a funnel when put it in your tank as acetone is a paint thinner and the ingredient used in fingernail polish remover. I buy a 1 gallon jug from Sally Beauty Supply. I have a 1 pint plastic fingernail polish remover bottle, a funnel (the long skinny orange one from walmart automotive section, and a plastic 1 cup measuring cup with the ounces on the side to measure, all in a small cardboard box in my trunk.
