I am pretty sure the filming location for Mama's Family (I'll admit I watch it a few times a week) is around Bushnell Ave. in Pasadena - the same area used for the 1955 neighborhood (tree lined streets and prewar houses) in BTTF. I remember that episode when she learns to drive, with so many period imports on the road. Not typical for 1984 Missouri I am sure. Also, in the episode where she runs for mayor, they actually use an exterior shot of a different house in a scene. Bad continuity. I haven't seen that commercial...I'll have to keep an eye out for it. I am kind of a geek for filming locations and locations used in multiple pieces.

Cummins, auto and 3.54. Not the best combo for towing an 8500 lb fifth wheel I'm afraid. If I had it to do over I'd go for the 5 speed stick with the same engine and rear, and specify smaller tires.

Very interesting, rlkrueger! Where did you get that information? I noticed that when I'm crusing down the hiway at 65mph in OD on my autotrans that I'm only turning 2k, which doesn't seem too bad. Check out my questions on the Dodge Ram II conference.

Thanks, pretty much confirms some other things I've picked up on these message boards. I'm sorry I didn't get involved with TownHall a long time ago. A lot of experience out there.

What size are the tires? If you are running something like 265x75x16's/31x10.5x15,you will notice a big performance difference if you go to 3.55. My friend had a 78 D250 with 4.11's and he had some fairly big tires on it,not huge ones like 33" or 34",and he broke a bunch of teeth off the pinion gear, and it ruined the rear.So he went boneyard hunting, and found a Dana 60,3.54,an exact fit for his truck. It only had 12000 on it,and we put it in the next Saturday. On Sunday,he calls me whining about how slow his truck was now.Duhhh. A few weeks later,I did the only gear install I've ever done. What a mess!We did it right, those 4.11 gears were on it almost 150,000 miles later, when the truck was retired. Don't do it unless you REALLY need to save 20 whatever bucks a month, you will lose a lot of performance.Personally,I wouldn't do it.even if the rear was FREE.It's not worth the performance hit.

The 3.54 should give you better mileage than the 4.10. I chose the 3.54 partially for that reason, but mostly because I thought my Cummins would be turning too many rpms at highway speeds with the 4.10. Otherwise, I would liked to have had the 4.10. Since you have the 4.10 already, it may be cost prohibitive to change it. I think I read somewhere else on this site that someone switched it after they had the truck and paid over $2,000. to get it changed. If that were the case, you'd probably be better off keeping it and looking at the benefits of the 4.10 (probably a higher tow rating for your truck than the 3.54 and more pop off the line!). Good luck!
