Down to $2.04 per gallon...
by andre1969 on Sun Nov 02 13:28:32 PST 2008
in some parts of Maryland. I was out and about yesterday, and locally (Bowie, Glenn Dale, Riverdale areas) I think the cheapest I saw was around $2.40. Haven't left the house today though, so I dunno if any of the local prices have fallen further or not.
Newbie - Power Source/Cigarette lighter question
by rzackai on Wed Aug 29 08:51:13 PDT 2007
Newbie Question - When I shut down the car, the gps plugged into the cigarette lighter does not power off, even with the truck totally off. I assume this will drain the battery. Is there anyway to make the power source shut off when I shut the truck down? I really don't want to have to unplug the gps every time I shut the engine off. Thanks

You're welcome. The price of the tires is ridiculous, and since they don't get balanced will last only about 30,000 miles I was told. I have 20,000 miles on my GXP and so far my tires are good. I am not hard on tires. I have a very good dealer, who I have bought one Grand Am and three GTP's from since 1992 and now the 2006 GXP. They did not know too much about the car in the beginning either, but now do, and I also learned a lot from this forum -- from other people's experiences. My dealer is DeMassi in Riverdale, NJ and they also own a dealership in Long Island City, NY. They are an excellent dealer and the service dept. is outstanding. My brother had a bent rim on his 1995 Impala SS which he refuses to sell and they wanted a $1,000 to replace it. He straighted it out himself. Maybe you can get the dent out yourself. Good luck. I at first was a little skeptical about the GXP after I purchased it, but now really like it and get a lot of compliments on it. I have only seen one around so far. They seem to be rare, which I like. My color is the Dark Cherry Red Metallic. I have everything in it except the nav system. chats1

It's funny to me the number of Subaru's you see on the roads now a days. In Brooklyn, they used to be a rare site, now it seems they're all over the place when I go visiting. Of all the areas/neighborhoods around here where you'll see a lot of Subarus -- Fairfield County, as juice mentioned; Bergen County; Westchester County; the Upper West Side; my neighborhood, Riverdale -- I think Park Slope takes the cake. It never ceases to amaze me how many Subies you see parked on the streets.

Wow, I have loved the DC metro. I would fly in to National, walk off the plane go get the metro and take it to Silver Spring. Maybe it's better in Montgomery County, but where I'm at in PG County, they just don't seem to make it all that convenient. One of my roommates is from Michigan, and has flown home a few times to see his family. It's always been a lot more convenient to just drive him down to National, and pick him up, than, say, to take him to the New Carrolton Metro (the closest stop to me) and have him take the Metro. It takes me about 10 mins to drive to the Metro stop. If traffic's not being too stupid, I can make it from my house to the airport in 25-30. And I know it's going to take him more than 15-20 to get from New Carollton to the Airport by Metro! I think my biggest hang-up with it though, is those stupid parking passes they make you buy. For years, my Dad took public transportation to work. He lives in Riverdale, MD and works Veteran's Hospital in NW DC. If he goes by public transportation it takes about an hour. If he goes by '03 Regal, it takes about 15 minutes. One big factor in favor of private car though, is that his parking at work is free. If he had to pay to park downtown, I'm sure that would be a whole different story.

I saw $2.88 per gallon at a Shell station in Riverdale, MD. Unfortunately it was on the other side of a divided road, hard to get to, and, well I had almost a full tank anyway.
