02 Suburban pulses between drive and overdrive
by tprudden on Mon Mar 31 05:36:22 PDT 2008
I have an '02 Suburban 4x4 1500 auto. My problem is that when I am driving and on level ground, neither accelerating or decelerating, just maintaining speed, the transmission will pulse from overdrive and drive until I give it more gas and cause more of a load. I changed the fluid and filter but no change. The fluid did not seem to be bruned and there did not seem to be an abnormal about of friction plate particles in the pan. Could this be a sensor problem or something in the valve body?
Bruning Smell (like rubber) 1999 OB Wagon
by tcasulli on Thu Jun 05 09:38:59 PDT 2003
4 yrs old, about 44K miles. discovered a burning smell in the car - like burnt rubber. though it was a belt problem. no sign of low oil 3k miles after the last change. looked under the hood - looking for drips, stains and leaks - nothing. ran the car pretty hard to see if I could get the smell again, and looked underneath. Sure enough smoke coming from where the exhaust system joins and head to the rear of the car) oil must have been dripping on it - in very small amounts I assume. warranty repair work was done - replaced a "cam-shaft seal or perhaps a crank-shaft seal" cant remember what exactly was done. Jury is out on whether they got to the cause... thanks to all who posted similar threads on this same issue - helped a lot. TC
Armrest...

That's another thing that broke on mine around 15K. They fixed it for nothing, at the same time as the broken dashboard air vent, the broken passenger door panel (something internal broke), and the bruned out lights behind the climate controls. My Jetta doesn't see many miles these days. I had the rear rotors and pads changed on April 28 at 37,200 miles, and I have 38,800 miles now almost a month later. I love having a shorter commute to work. :) One other nice thing is having the only VW in the entire parking lot. See, I work for DiamlerChrysler financial services, that's probably why. Since we get a good price on all Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge/MB cars(which I will qualify for in about 6 months), everyone has them (no MBs though, only the formers).

DEFINITELY SUPPLY & DEMAND
by bruning on Fri Jan 25 01:45:45 PST 2002
Most dealerships that are pricing $5000-$10000 over msrp have a very small allocation of Z's. Since pre-orders have production priority, these will be the first cars at the dealerships. If a car is preordered at $2000-4000 over and the preorder doesn't take delivery, then obviously the dealer has a unit in stock for retail delivery, (who knows how much over?) Like any popular vehicle, the first ones on the street will sell for plus money. (my buddy just paid $80k over window for a 360 Modena and was treated like garbage in the process!) As supply and popularity increases or decreases, so does pricing. If you want to preorder a Z, find a dealer with a larger allocation that is willing to price more in line with what you want to pay.
