A little more feed back on my new 2009 Azera.
by ptshredder on Tue Nov 11 19:36:46 PST 2008
My wife and I took my daughter, S-I-L and grandson and a trunk full on a 1500 mile round trip from Colorado Springs to northeast Nebraska. On a 350+ mile strech of interstate driving from Brush CO to York, NE I was babying the car along at 65mph using cruise and got 31.3 MPG. So we had a full load but dropped about 4500 ft in elevation in that section so that helps. On the return trip on that same section from York, NE to Brush CO doing 75mph with the cruise control locked in the whole time and with all the climbing it never came out of over drive or shifted down. We managed 27.8 MPG on that section climbing 4500 ft. So if you kind of baby this car, don't get in a hurry you can get some pretty decent mileage contrary to a lot of reports. It's a 2009 Limited, Ultimate package, and the NAV upgrade. Just about everything but the blue tooth, even though the sales rep said blue tooth was built into the NAV system, I do not think it is. Absolutely completely pleased with the comfort (although I wish the drivers seat could go a little lower to take some pressure off the thighs), and the power and handling for a car like this. Not a race car, but defiantly better handling then others we drove particularly the Avalon which when I started out shopping was what I wanted. But for 9-10K less, it was a no-brainer. I couldn't be happier at this point after 8 weeks.
Re: Am I crazy to buy an Impreza with 156K? [aruth]
by snowboardwoman on Sun Nov 09 09:52:58 PST 2008
Hi! I have had quite a few Subarus, including 3 Imprezas. They are great cars for winter and I have found them to be much more dependable than the Legacy. I sold a 1995 Impreza with 160,000 miles 3 years ago for $2200. That was a pretty good deal for the buyer, but I knew that it had been driven by my high school kids, so I wasn't going to promise anything for future repairs. Currently, my son in college is driving my 2000 Impreza RS coupe with 170,000. It has had its share of repairs because of his driving style, such as shocks, springs, and manual transmission, but it always starts and goes anywhere with snow tires. The mileage is not such a big deal if you don't plan on putting a huge amount of miles on yourself. You should be able to get 2-3 years more out of the car. Have a local garage check it for rust, undercarriage issues, suspension, and basic engine stuff, including belts. Find out a little about the driver. Makes sure he didn't do pizza or newspaper deliveries! The PRICE seems a bit high, so check out Kelly Blue Book online values for your area and then offer a little over the wholesale price. The seller will let you know if they are interested or think you are crazy! If the car hasn't sold for a month, they may be surprisingly interested. Sometimes I print out the values to show the seller. Put some winter tires on, such as Nokians and you will be able to drive anywhere this winter! Hope this helps.
Re: 2001 Tacoma problems rusty frame [johnny66]

With respect to daleyplanet's observation Toyota is ripping off Taco owners by offering more than "depressed" pricing, I have to disagree. I understand what he is saying - but I have no idea if the Kelly Blue Book on my Tacoma was more in Spring, 2007 than Spring, 2008. All I know is I got a deal, and was NOT even thinking about getting rid of my '99 Taco for another 3-4 years - it was a dependable workhorse. I leased my '99 Taco in January 1999, new, with ps,pb, a/c, bed liner, and stereo - that's it. I then bought it from Toyota when lease was up. With lease, interest, then paying cash to buy it, I had a total of $ 14,000 in it. I had 141,000 miles on it when I contacted a dealer for rust inspection. Interior was spotless and I kept it maintained, I had little interest in selling it and was skeptical. Kelley Blue Book in July, '08 was $ 3,200.00 in average condition. That was low for me because it was worth WAY more to me to keep it and drive it 4-5 more years. Then I saw they were offered 1.5 excellent condition. Excellent condition was $ 5,870.00. That was about what I thought it was worth to me, but still was reluctant. buy 1.5 X that amount was $ 8,900.00. When the ISG rep verified that is what they would pay me...I thought ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I absolutely had not any thought about selling the truck and getting anything else. Esp. in late summer 2008's economy I was nowhere ready to buy anything new. But $ 8,900.00 for a 10 yr. old truck with 141,000 miles on it. PLUS a $1,000 certificate good on top of any deal I made for a new Tacoma - that is $ 9,900.00 - nearly $ 10,000.00 for a truck worth between $ 3,200 - $ 6,000.00!!! I had no prior intention of getting anything else but I couldn't pass up this opportunity.

Hey Tony! Yes. Quite a burst, as you put it! Well in markets like this one, I look for defensive plays-the blueist of the blue chips with dividends of around 3%, hopefully more. Having a tough time prepping the wife for the Florida written drivers' test. Man, I'm glad I don't have to take it! I must get her to pass. It is my ticket back to a BMW 3 Series. I must!! :surprise: Seriously, if she doesn't pass the test, I will sell the VW and get a 328i. This should happen by Spring. Don't worry. We will get out of this mess just fine. Tony, I have all the money I will ever need.... If I die tomorrow!!! ;)
Re: lowering the Azera [alymac]

I posted on this matter before (just not sure which forum it was in). If you go to Car Domain and do a search of Azeras...there's a guy on there with a blue Azera that lowered his using the coilover set up. There's also a couple of other Azeras on there that lowered them using just the lowering springs.
