Re: Leaking engine seal [herzogtum71]

I stopped using Bellevue Lexus for oil changes in my '92 LS because I once got it back with the new oil added on top of the old and no filter change. Its NEVER been back. A friend with a PRISTINE garage floor got his '95 LS back from the same dealer with a leaking rear engine seal after an oil/filter change. $1100 later and all they would do was offer a free oil change.

Good thing I decided to check back here today! Looks like others answered your question on the Subaru Bucks. I've used mine to replace a windshield, buy accessories and for service at the dealership. As for the iPod integration kit, I believe it will work with any OEM stereo that has satellite radio capabilities. You won't be able to have both though as the iPod kit uses the satellite radio input on the back of the head unit. I've got it working on an '07 head unit (that I bought with Subaru Bucks ;)). I don't know if it will work on the newer head units, but I suspect it would. If you buy it and it doesn't work you could always sell it on the lgt.com classifieds. Cheers!

Do you have a sensitive backside? :surprise: ;) Sounds like you should get it checked. It shouldn't be that hot in the lowest setting. It does fluctuate the temperature though. That's just how it works. There have been malfunctions of these units though that can lead to fires (in other brands, not sure about Subaru). Best to get it checked. Cheers! -Ian
Re: Nokian WR or WRG2 for 06 Outback [riverrat3]
by goneskiian on Mon Nov 10 18:08:20 PST 2008
That tire looks to be the WRG2. Perhaps that website mislabeled it? I've got the normal WR's for winter and they're great. I'm on the West side of the Cascades as well, just a bit further North (Seattle). Those G2's look to be a great choice. Yes, Nokian's are very expensive but supposedly last a long time and are the only real snow worthy choice of of "all-season" tires I could find. Cheers! -Ian

Bellevue isn't a Big City like Seattle. Even Tacoma isn't any better than Seattle. But even in Bellevue they have established Malls, there is a nice one not far from Sammamish High School. But I agree Bellevue has better parking. Still think about how much $4.00 gas influences where people shop. Housing prices are not conducive to reversing the trend of flight from the cities that took [place over the last 50 years. If the cities continue to try and get revenue by placing higher parking fees or a toll to get into town then the merchants will simply place their shopping outside of that impediment. Consumers simply aren't interested in paying a cover charge to shop as long as they have the option to have free parking and easy access to all the stores in one area. Even where I live there is a discount outlet within 25 miles and it is worth going to because you can find all the name brand store in one place. Personally I am willing to support my down town stores as long as I am not taxed, tolled, or restricted in parking to do so. So I might pay a bit more to shop locally if fuel is $2.50 a gallon. But if they are going to charge a toll to get into the city or extra to park there I might just as well hit the mall or Wal-Mart.

Vancouver isn't a bad city, a lot easier to get around in than Seattle. Drivers are just as crappy as in Seattle, if not moreso...but the public transit is a million times better, and urban housing is more affordable than Seattle because of the multitude of high rises. "Many downtown shopping areas have died because of traffic & parking fees" That's true for Seattle...it's funny that I can see downtown Seattle from my office, yet I go there only a few times a year. It's terrible to drive in, the public transit is half baked at best, parking can be impossible, etc. Bellevue WA has a somewhat forward thinking developer named Kemper Freeman who has fathered a large commercial development downtown, with free parking being a key point. It's now the most highly regarded shopping space in the region. The downtown here is doing very well even in the slowing economy. Within 20 minutes walk of where I live I have several grocery stores, drugstores, good restaurants, more shopping than a trophy wife could handle, and so on. But, it aint cheap to live here.
