Check Engine Light ?
by tpennington on Sat Nov 15 19:15:03 PST 2008
Hello all, I have a 98 VW Rabbit GLS. The temperature gauge reads normal temp. However the red temp idicator light has bee flashing. I just had the oil changed and the coolant was topped off and the flashing red light stopped. I had been driving for about an hour and the light started flashing once again. On top of that the check engine light is on. Any insight on this issue. Just wondering if the temp light could be affecting the check engine light. Maybe I need a new thermostat? Thanks, Tony

>The golden goose is constipated, You're focusing on the wrong end of the goose; you're looking at the worker bees end. You need to look at the head end where upper management and middle management pay and benefits are established. That end has been over-producing golden eggs (and parachutes) for years. That's why the other end can't put out gold. None makes it that far through the ovum-producing tract. Upper management is alive and doing better than even the (highly-paid and highly-benefited) UAW. As much as I feel UAW is over-benefited and somewhat overpaid even with the reduced-pay workers taking all the cuts rather than the older ones who drained the pie of cherries..., they haven't gotten what management got.

No argument about a Chevette's cheapness, but I don't think a 'Honey Bee' was too great, either - And my problem with the Vega is that it incorporated the worst element of GM - release an apparently OK car with hidden major defect(s) resulting from incomplete development time. At least the Chevette was an 'honestly' cheap car, you knew what you were getting

The Big 3 are getting a bargain !!! So they should be highly competitive, right? They build the plants in the ignorant parts of the south ...and those ignorant people build cars that are better received than the Detroit 3's offerings! Most of your transplants when they retire will end up on medicare Almost all of us will end up on Medicare who don't have gilded retirement benefits. At least the UAW, retirees aren't sucking off the system They will be if MY taxes are used to fund THEIR retirement benefits via a bailout by the US government. CEO's in Japan, only make 10-15 times their worker bee's... Here in the U.S. you are entitled 500 times + because you went to Yale, or Harvard !!! Agree with you here, where is the GM board of directors? They are in charge. Why does Wagoner "not see what would be achieved" in requiring him to leave the company?!!! If I was at my job for fourteen years and I failed miserably to have contingencies for foreseeable problems that many of my competitors did, I'd be out on the street. Blame the UAW, because they make too much money !!! That's definitely a big part of it. Why don't you blame yourself for voting in these pseudo-capitalist fools who believe in FREE TRADE So we shouldn't be able to sell to other countries? GM should quit China since that's free trade. Boeing shouldn't sell airliners to other countries (most of their business), because that's free trade. In fact, if we can't trade then we won't have enough oil to power all those Detroit 3 vehicles anyway.

How stupid did they have to be to let UAW bully them into paying wages twice that of the competition. How ignorant is your typical american that they talk about area's they claim to have knowledge about when their only facts are based on a yellow journalist slob ??? The Japanese United Autoworker (JAW) make the wages and benefits that the UAW, receive look like a joke !!! Go do some investigating before you rail the UAW, for wanting a fair slice of the pie and if you look at what automobile workers are getting in other 1st world country's The Big 3 are getting a bargain !!! The JAW workers more/less have guaranteed employment and make more in wages and benefits than the UAW, workers as do the Europeans !!! The transplants should of never been allowed to come here in the first place !!! I'm against any foreign entity owning a piece of property of the United States, because #1 it's a national security risk !!! They build the plants in the ignorant parts of the south where they could manipulate peoples minds into believing they were getting a fair shake !!! Most of your transplants when they retire will end up on medicare and sucking the system dry. At least the UAW, retirees aren't sucking off the system but I guess that's okay if you are a pseudo-capitalist ??? Socialism is only okay if you are non-union and are rich or vote to the right, correct ??? :confuse: CEO's in Japan, only make 10-15 times their worker bee's... Here in the U.S. you are entitled 500 times + because you went to Yale, or Harvard !!! I most days am very proud to be an american but the last few days have been something else... I watch all the ignorance by the yellow belly pigs on Faux News, manipulating the minds of the ignorant sheep and getting everyone fired up on issues they have no comprehension about !!! Blame the UAW, because they make too much money !!! Why don't you blame yourself for voting in these pseudo-capitalist fools who believe in FREE TRADE, for one side and it's not your country who is getting the long end of the stick !!!   -Rocky
GT-R first view
by m4d_cow on Fri Oct 31 23:41:42 PDT 2008
A small note, I saw my first GT-R here in Indonesia (didnt spot even one back home). Funny, the more I look at it the less I like it. The nose is the one part that bothers me the most, why make it "cabon fiber" black when the rest of the car is colored brownish green? Instead of making it look cool I think it looks a gaping fish mouth. The wheels, otoh, are plain cool in their graphite finish. The rear end would look fabulous w/o its cheap looking wing. The rest, I cant explain it but something just feels wrong with the whole proportion. The owner proudly showed me the interior, which again I like less the longer I sit in. The seats are comfy and hugs you tight, but the cloth doesnt seem like an improvement over the 350Z, and the grey color just make it worse. The trip computer is a handful to operate (owner didnt even bother to learn to use it). It shows nifty graphics on horsepower, torque, acceleration times, top speed, etc, but whats the point? The Bose stereo is loud, though its kinda out of place with the owner playing Bee-Gees CDs (he's 55) at the hotel parking lot. GT-R and Bee-Gees..... just doesnt sound right. Pics? Sorry guys none available. I was 10,000 miles from home and I forgot to install the memory card for my camera....... so sad.... so dumb... :P
