Juice, since you asked :) http://www.idahoparks.org/parks/priest.html http://www.priestlake.org/history.html Euroamericans arrived in this region in the early 1800's. They came as fur trappers and established trade with the Kalispel tribe. In the 1840's, the Jesuits entered the area, establishing missions as close to Priest Lake as the eastern shore of the Pend Oreille River, and they even established a forward base camp in the Kalispell Bay area. Father Peter DeSmet, a Jesuit priest, spent considerable time in the immediate Priest Lake area during the period 1844-1846. Although the Native American tribes in this area had called the lake "Kaniksu", Father DeSmet named the lake "Roothaan Lake" in honor of his Jesuit superior in Rome. The name Roothaan Lake obviously didn't stick as it was again designated as Kaniksu Lake on an 1865 map prepared by Captain John Mullan. The Indian word "Kaniksu" is believed to be the English equivalent to "black robe" and from that reference, the name gradually evolved from Kaniksu to Priest Lake. (with apologies to Graham for stealing his travelogue style) :) Cheers! Paul

To save the the sales tax, have brother buy and title the vehicle in OR, MT, NH I got my new 2008 EX-L using costco deal, $500 over invoice from Eisenger Honda in Kalispel MT, worked out to be $30,800. Best deal in AB was $39,999. Still $8500 savings , it covers the first 2 years depreciation, worth the trouble, screw you Honda Canada. Fantastic Van,!!!!!

I have contacted dealers in Seattle, Spokane (WA) and Kalispel (MT). Kalispel first said No, unless I had a MT address to register the car to. I clarified with them that I could use "any" MT address like of a friend. First they said Yes and then 2 weeks later they said it would be best to have the friend buy the car and sell to me because Toyota and State of MT monitor transfers of registrations and check for actual residence in MT; he warned that if I had problems with title nothing dealer would do to help. Seattle and Spokane required proof of out of state residence to avoid local state tax. They are not willing to risk sancture by Toyota USA or local state registry.

Ken, I spend lots of times in Great Falls.....all the time keeping in touch with my business, using a headset...like most in Montana do, even my ranching friends are using Bluetooth. :P These days, in the City, kids are using CD/DVD players with video displays....I even saw one down in Kalispell this last year. :P And as someone who has been through three kids, I can assure you they are not refraining from talking when you aren't there. Bug the car sometime, you will learn too much.....

Living in Kalispell, Montana, I have figured out that most "all season" tires are crap on the the snow. I strongly recommend going to snow tires in the winter and performance tires in the summer. The S80 is a high performance automobile and my opinion is you are not getting the best out of it by running all season tires. My preference for snow tires are the Nokia Hakkepalita from Finland (they know snow in Finland).
