.I am not familiar with those names...which companies did they run???... They were executives at Delphi, and were found guilty of "cooking the books" ;) How's the job search going???...I have in my hand an app from Kia and VW... I was hired by a food distributor last tuesday. Was told I'd start out at $14.65 an/hr. + commissions for upselling and I also would be doing warehouse work, and delivery's to food catering business, restaruants, and other commercial business with some residential. I was like okay sounds good. I interviewed at their old office and they were moving into this supposed huge warehouse. I woke up yesterday morning, bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, positive attitude, excited, and showed up at 8:40 a.m. or 20 minutes before my orientation. I and my would be new hire 5 co-workers stood around until 9:20. I and my 5 would be new hire co-workers signed a mandatory letter stating we agreed we wouldn't hold the company liable for workmens comp if we were injured. One of our bosses said that was for just today. We kind of looked at each other. One of our would be trainers came and got us to bring all of us to the new warehouse. We entered into the new warehouse that was being repainted and stood around for an additional half-hour and I was asked by my would be co-workers what I knew about the job ???? I told them what I was told at my interview and they said that was pretty much what they were told as well but we all agreed something doesn't smell right !!!!! :surprise: Well each of us was assigned a trainer and we had a meeting outside. They were going over the sales from the previous couple of days and we all look at each other. I at this juncture had lots of questions but kept my mouth shut. I went with my would be trainer in the van and we headed out on the road. He asked me what did they tell you all about this job ???? I was told I'd be doing food delivery's and doing warehouse work for $14.65 an/hr + if I sold a larger order to a existing client I'd make some commissions on top of my hourly wage. I was told they had one group that goes out and builds relationships to get new business and another that does the labor to fill those orders and that was why I was hired. My would be trainer said well that isn't exactly true. There isn't no hourly wage, no benefits, and you are a independent contractor. I was like Ryan (my boss) said we got benefits after our probationary period. He said this Van, we are driving I had to rent for $30.00 + I'm responsible for the gasoline in it. I was like your kidding right ??? "Rocky, you would be a steak peddler that goes door 2 door working on 100% commission and I have no idea where they came up with $14.65 an/hr."......By this time we pull into a gas station to get gas for the Van, and I sit their stunned. Told my trainer that I appreciated his honesty because I was lied too regarding the true job description. He said well they are desperate for help and I guess they took to exaggerating the truth just to get people to apply. I said something wasn't jiving in the pumpkin patch and I and the other guys felt something wasn't adding up with this job. We returned back to the warehouse, and I noticed my co-workers personal cars were gone thus they must of said to the hell with this as well. Marsha7, the job ad said $14.65 an/hr for Warehouse/Driver. This is just one of many reasons why I'm pro-union. I've been lied too by prior employers in the past but never to this extent !!! I'll take the Kia, job if you hook me up with a bass boat and home on Lake Sidney Lanier, deal ???? "The Rock" P.S. Do you work for Kia or are you going to apply for VW ??? :confuse:

Michigan, is not anti-business and if you were to examine our state a little closer you would see it is George W. Bush, and your free trading, pseudo-capitalist, republicans that hate american owned business. The main reason these foreign company's set up shops in south is they can buy-off ministers, to preach union hate on sundays. The people are easily manipulated, as long as they can own a beat-up truck, single wide, have plenty of smokes, coors light, they will work like slaves and risk life and limb for their company !!! For the better part of 90 years we ruled the U.S. in manufactoring and if their is anyone to blame, you can look no further than the free marketeers that like to use slave child labor to build shoddy cheap goods !!!! The only thing good about Georgia, is Lake Sidney Lanier and Detriot Tiger, Tyrus Raymond Cobb, and he (COBB) was one of the founding fathers of the Major League Players Association. I also wouldn't want to live that close to a traitor like Zell Miller. Rocky my friend, piece of advice. It doesn't help your argument when you attack others with juvenile insults and stereotypical attacks. If you want to show your side and be the UAW support balance, go right ahead. We need both sides of the argument. But what we don't need is you insulting others. Because honestly, when you do that you come off as more ignorant than anyone you are attempting to attack. When we claim that Michigan is bad for business, we're not bad mouthing the midwest at all. We're bad-mouthing what we consider to be a history if bad business decisions and inadequate local government that continually impedes new growth. And yes, I agree with you. Michigan is great for business...in 1924. :) See that, that was how you throw out a funny without insulting someone. And don't worry, no apologies necessary. We GA folks have strong skin. We don't need to get into the South vs. the Midwest for business growth, too many facts will just happen to show how much stronger financially the South is and I don't want facts to muddy your positions. Now, let's talk the UAW friend. :) Question for the thread. When (not if, but when) one of the Medium 3 declares bankruptcy can they throw out completely current UAW contracts? Can they legally use bankruptcy to force all new contracts? And if so, would that be for both Retirees and Actives?

Please get out before the lifeboats run out...everything is against you up there...politics in Mich is anti-business and will get worse with Democrats running the show...the UAW is dead, but with a respirator it does not yet KNOW it is dead beause it appears to be breathing to the untrained eye...Big 3 is/are rapidly becoming the Medium 3 or Little 3... Get out now, unless you intend to run a hotel in Traverse City...beautiful state for scenery, but not for real business... For the better part of 90 years we ruled the U.S. in manufactoring and if their is anyone to blame, you can look no further than the free marketeers that like to use slave child labor to build shoddy cheap goods !!!! If you want, I could talk to the powers that be in GA, and we MAY let you live here...just NEVER mention the U-word (UNION) outside your bedroom, and you will be allowed to live... The only thing good about Georgia, is Lake Sidney Lanier and Detriot Tiger, Tyrus Raymond Cobb, and he (COBB) was one of the founding fathers of the Major League Players Association. I also wouldn't want to live that close to a traitor like Zell Miller. :P  -Rocky
