Re: How far will gas prices drop? [oldfarmer50]
by larsb on Wed Aug 27 13:01:47 PDT 2008
I'm not sure who "Marie" is or who she is letting eat cake, but I'm not on Earf to raise someone else's family. I'm here to raise MY family. No one gave me anything. Everything I own (which ain't much) I have achieved from hard work. My mom is retired on social security earning $806 a month. Those are my roots. More power to people who rise themselves up to a better standard of living than their parents had. I hope my kids are far more successful than I will ever be. I went into the Marines at age 17 because I had no money for college and no hopes for any other sort of career. I built that beginning into a decent life. All I had was the brain God gave me and a bad stutter to overcome. I, having BEEN THERE, certainly have empathy for "economically challenged" families. I'm just looking at the BIG picture, and in the BIG PICTURE there will always be low earners and people at a higher social status than they are - nothing I can do, or Bill Gates, or Warren Buffett, can do, will change that social structure. What WE as Americans can and have done in 2008 is reduce our usage of fossil fuel and learned that high gas prices DO have a silver lining. High gas prices are benefitting this country, not harming it, when you look at the BIG PICTURE.
XC90

Louisville, Kentucky 2003 Volvo XC90 2.5T AWD 27,000 miles Silver / tan Sun roof, back up sensors, leather, heated seats, headlight washers. "Dog gate" accessory for the rear cargo area. Clean Carfax. Haven't seen it, not sure about tires or brakes. Dealer is "asking" $19,886, which seems rather high in light of what you've posted for newer models.
Re: 2008 Exped Limited EL 4x4 lease [Car_man]
by antnec on Tue Sep 11 20:14:21 PDT 2007
Hello Car Man To answer your questions in addition to every number the dealer gave me that is figured in the prices below. So here we go, thanks again 2008 Ford Expedition 4x4 EL (600A order code) everything below is in the purchase price of $46,673.08 from the dealer's "VEHICLE ORDER CONFIRMATION" SHEET Skid Plate Daytime running lights Power moonroof rubber floor mats rearview camera trailer tow navigation chrome rack with cross bars power lift gate rear seat entertainment 8 U.S. Gal gas charge $24.08 FDAF assessment $578 Dest and Deliver $900 all for $46,173.08 plus $500 his commission = 46,673.08 and an additional 25 gallons of gas (full tank on delivery is in this price) now he gave me a copy of the "Deal Worksheet" with the following numbers from his Lease Work sheet from Ford's dealer website FIRST COLUMN Lease Source - RCL Price -$46,740.00 ($66.92 more then his quote price) trade in amt - $0.00 trade in payoff - $0.00 cash down - $0.00 (no check mark in the box next to this number) Rebates -$500.00 (no check mark in the box next to this number) Lease Rate - 1 Term -24 payment per yr - 12 next payment due MSRP - $50,420.00 other - $0.00 SECOND COLUMN Insurance -none credti life -none 0.00 (a check mark in check box) credit A/H -none 0.00 (a check mark in check box) ext. srv -none 395.00 (Red Carpet Lease wear care) (check mark in check box) ext. srv plan code- blank garage location Mileage Allowed -15,000 (.20 mile over 30,000 at the end of 24 months) mileage purchase - 0 mileage cost -$0.15 THIRD COLUMN residual % 56 - $28,235.20 sales tax% 8.375 - $1,844.58 (check mark in check box) property tax - 0.00 (no check mark in box) luxyrt tax - 0.00 (no check mark in box) office fees - $57.50 (no check box available) title/reg - $45.00 (check mark in check box) license/lien - 0.00 soft adds - 0.00 ACQ Fee - $595.00 (what is this) (check mark in check box) security deposit - $0.00 TWO BOXES DOWN AT THE BOTTOM SAID amount due at signing ------- monthly payment $1,40.09 ------- $903.09 I would also get any additional rebates at the time the car was delivered if anything better was in affect at the time of delivery. which he was told by his rep that these cars are "FREE WHEELING", built in 4 weeks and up to 2 weeks to deliver. Not unless if ordering the power running boards the built time could be doubled. Also if he was to order this car he would need a $500 deposit that would be applied to the $1,403.09 so all I need at pick up is $903.09 he also told me if I order this in silver and were to change my mind he would give the $500 deposit back, if I ordered any other color I would lose the deposit. so happens I like the silver car anyway. So is this a deal worth going for? Is this dealership giving me more info that usual? Is Ford strict when they evaluate the car at the end of the lease? The dealer said Ford wants you back so they are somewhat lenient. He wasn't pushing the Red lease care package. But Ieft it in for now. (I am planning on buying car seat covers with 4 car seats in the car) I noticed he used the Residual valvue against the MSRP price is the correct? Which number did he get the tax of $1,844.58 from? ACQ Fee do you know what that is for? Also I found strange is that he told me in writing .20 cents per mile over 30K at the end of 24 months and another dealer told me .25 cents a mile over $30,000 at the end of the 24 months. Who is correct? This is every piece of info that I have from the dealer, he gave me all print outs off the computer from Ford's dealership website. Hope I gave you all the info you need to determine if the $903 is good or not? Is this dealer on the level with everything he supplied? what would the payment be if I was to put 1,000 or 2,000 down? Thanks again Anthony bx, ny
2008 Fusion SE i4 5 MAN
by blueiedgod on Wed Apr 30 13:52:36 PDT 2008
Girlfriend just leased a 2008 Silver Birch Fusion SE, 5 Manual with SYNC, ambient lighting and Sirius last night. I checked it out, and it is mostly Mazda built in Mexico. She was upset that she was no supporting US economy. Her other choice was Honda Civic, but she wanted an "American car" lol. Civic is made in Ohio!!! My impression: It's pretty damn fast, especially for a 4 cylinder. I am a Honda driver, so, I have to say, Ford's got a competitor on their hands there. The clutch is a little bit non-linear, she stalled out a few times, and I almost did. The shifter is a little too bulky, especially for her little hands, but the gates are precise, and shifts are smooth. Not like on Altima that she drover a few weeks back and kept putting it in 3rd instead of 1st, because the gates were so darn close and not indented at all. I like that you don't have to pull up on the ring to shift into reverse, like on other Fords. The single stalk for wipers and turn signals is a little bit confusing. I think the '80's called and want their single stalk back, lol. The overall fit and finish are not too bad for Mexican assembly. The car had some kind of insulation hanging from under the lower dashboard on delivery, and the weather stripping seam on the driver's door has a huge gap at the bottom. Time will tell how it holds up. A friend has a 2005 Mazda6 and he has 75,000 miles on it now, with no problems, other than regular maintenance. Edit: P.S.The Finance guy tried to sell her "the maintenance package" for a measly $1200 they will do all the maintenance by the book, and even replace wiper blades. I told him "no." He asked why. Told him I maintain the vehicles my self. He told me that the vehicle requires for me to use their oil. I told him that if it requires Ford oil then he has to give to me for free under the Magnuss-Moss act. He quit right there, and did not press this anymore. lol
Re: 110 Pilots per one Chicagoloand Dealer [jd77]
by tap5 on Wed Apr 02 10:43:21 PDT 2008
I almost bought from Brilliance, and I agree, they were a breeze to deal with. The problem was that they did not have our first or second color choice (black; nimbus gray). I ended up at Schaumburg Honda. With a couple of phone calls, they ended up with the same deal as Brilliance did out of the gate on a 2008 EX-L Pilot 4WD ($26,617 with destination, mudguards, and wheel locks). Brilliance did call back and agree to give me an additional $400 on my trade if I took the Silver one, but we wanted the nimbus gray. So if you want a silver one and are in the Chicagoland area, Brilliance may be your place. Someone else recently posted on waiting to the 2009's are out, but based upon my experience and talking with a different dealer hooked up with Costco's buying program, dealers are starting to run out of certain colors. Brilliance for example had indicated they are only getting in 4 more 2008. On the 2009 front, Brilliance noted they already have a test drive event set up for May 15.

"Welcome to the 21st century" Thanks! Many times I didnt think I'd make it. But me? I dont have no stinkin IPOD. I dont have no stinkin MP-3. My 8 year old has one. Is that Ford's target market? Also my 20 year old has one. She cant afford a new car either. And lets not forget this innovative technology costs $795 on the Edge (you MUST also buy the convenience package - last time I checked anyway.) Thats a dam sight more money than bluetooth. And some of that money goes to Bill Gates, a modern-day robber-baron. Finally I'll tell you something for certain - SYNC wont sell any Lincolns. The people I see driving Lincolns most certainly do NOT have IPODs or MP-3 players. Victrolas maybe. I saw a beautiful silver LS yesterday. 2002 with the ground-effects package. Nice. As I pulled alongside, I prepared to wave to a fellow traveler. But she didnt look. Probably arthritis kept her head from turning to the left. Her hair was a nice shade of blue though. Went well with the silver paint. Dont take this personal anyone, but I think that anyone who buys a Ford, Mercury or Lincoln over something else because of sync is intellectually challenged.
