Re: Whistling noise [tulsaj]
by charless646 on Thu May 29 17:35:20 PDT 2008
I have the same problem with my 2008 Caravan...I noticed it just hours after taking delivery and have had it in for service 3 times already with no results...The windshield has been resealed...The side mirrors have been resealed...the passenger door has been adjusted and still the whistling noise from the windshield continues....I took a long ride on I-95 with the service manager on Wednesday and he said it was one of the weirdest things he has ever heard...He used masking tape to seal the windshield from the outside and that didn't work...As of now, my Caravan is back with the dealer....The tech is taking it home to to further diagnose the problem...They tried something else today but that didn't work either...The only good news is that they have been polite and they put me in an Enterprise Rent a Car....The Caravan is at Dependable Dodge in Vero Beach, Florida and the service manager is Mr. Joe Monticello...Check with him in a week and you may have your answer. Good Luck

Made in Cincinnati, Ohio-4cylinder engine-later was used as a 4-inline outboard motor as well and also stuffed in small hydroplane hull for it's own class of racing..Great little engine, but the car didn't make the grade.. Boats used to be a big passion since we lived on Lake Freeman during the summer months, located near Monticello, Indiana. During part of my adult life I bought and sold new aswell used boats as a hobby to offset my expenses of Great Lakes boating. Been through the Formulas, Magnums, Cigarettes and Donzis as well as the cruisers 30ft to 36ft.. Didn't like to pay winter storage, however I got stuck with a 78 Formula T-250s for 3 yrs and the hull was replaced after 30hrs of useage by the factory in 1980..Made money on the deal even after carrying it for three years, lawyer fees and storage costs.. My first venture with a new 98 Olds Intrigue GLS loaded was a 13 month venture and GM repurchased the car after 26k miles, cost me $635 and I took their check added $700 purchased a new 1999 Olds Intrigue GLS w/3.5 V-6, a sweetheart of a car, traded it on a 2002 OLds Intrigue which went the 119k..Spent 220k miles in Intrigues, should have bought a spare new 2002 model... What's the hertiage of an Asian Car?????

I just bought an 93 S-10 V6 that does the same thing. It would only crank when you poured some gas into the injector intake area that looks like where a carbureator should go. It would then idle at a high speed. When I changed the mass airflow sensor it no longer needed to be primed with gas to crank, but it still idles high. The friend I bought it from said it idled fine until his hired help steam cleaned the engine. That is when the high idle problem started. Any suggestions?
Re: TDI acceleratoir lag [sebring95]

Thanks sebring95, I allso have the auto trans. off this subject, I rolled over 20000 miles today and about the same time the Exhaust system warning light came on (steady not flashing) I can't say for sure if it came on exactly 20000 but I do know it was with in 15 mile of it at most. would you know if VW might have it programed to come on for the 20000 mile service? could you recommend a good vag com?

Thanks! that was great, I didn't realize the technologies was that old, which is a good thing. would you be concerned about the DSG tranny being able to handle the 20 or so more HP? I have read a few negative things about it.

My goal is to get the best MPG with out loosing HP and better yet increseing HP. The van aaken smart box (Parleys Diesel) is one I have looked at, claims to get 20 to 26 more HP and 26 to 33 fpt. KermaTDI advertises a ECU tuning, sounds like a more customised reprograming. I believe that VW is just like Cummings ar Cat, they set there pumps on the conservitive side to protect the motor from heavy footed drivers that don't understand shock load. those of us that do could turn the fuel pump up to get the extra HP with out hurting MPG or the motor/drive train. This TDI is the first drive by wire diesel I have had so thats why I quistioned the acceleratoir lag thinking it might be in the electronics. if I understood correctly the 06 TDI has varibale pitch fins in the turbo to spin it up sooner and keep it from over spinning at the higher rpm thus no waste gate. correct me if I'm wrong
