Re: Americans getting involved. [fintail]

Everyone knows this. A few ran on term limits a few years ago but once elected it all fizzled out. Unfortunately we have the fox guarding the hen house and making the rules. It doesn't matter what the citizens know and want. All we can do is bite the bullet and throw ALL the rascals out. Even our favorites who are bringing home the bacon locally. This is the only way to get rid of them, vote them out. If we won't do this then we deserve what we get.

It was in response to rocky thinking the crooks are all Republicans. Joe Kennedy was very much a part of the 1929 stock market crash. Getting very wealthy on insider trading. Then FDR put the Fox in the Hen house and set Joe in charge of cleaning up the corruption that he was so much a part of. I would like to see all of them behind bars. We probably do not have enough country club prisons with master suites for all of them. When a Republican gets caught cheating and does time it is just as refreshing for me as a Democrat getting caught. Problem is I doubt Congress could get a quorum of clean legislators to go after all the crooks.

At least McCain wanted the over sight removed from the gangsters in Congress. Letting Congress over see the bailouts is the same as having a fox guard the hen house. Obama had not clue what to do. Same as dirty Harry last week.

Oh, I know. Here's a story I've told here before. One dark and rainy night years ago, I had a nice middle aged couple that were trading in a Mazda MPV minivan. It was immaculate inside and out and it ran very well. But is was a Mazda minivan and these really don't sell well either new or as used cars. We made an offer and they were not happy with it. Out came the file folder waith stacks of internet printouts. Of course, they rated their car to be in excellent condition! They went on and on about how well they had maintained it etc, It was a cold night but the A/C didn't seem to be getting very cold. They informed me that they were suer it "just needed a charge" Yeah, right. In order to make the deal, we paid more than we wanted for the Mazda but we did the deal. The next morning, one of our lot attendants went to move the MAzda and it wouldn't go into gear! After ideling in drive for five minutes or so, it finally warmed up and the transmission started working, This is called Morning Sickness and it isn't good! So we ran it over to the Mazda dealer to have them take a look at it, They inputted the car's VIN numbner into their system and laughed. " I thought that car looked familiar!" Then the printed a copy of a work order they ahd done the week before... " Customer stated transmission won't engage w\hen car is cold" Problem determined - Needs rebuilt transmission - 3500.00! " Customer states A/C blowing hot" Problem determined - Needs compressor and a receiver/ dryer - 1300.00 Nice, huh?

That's a good comparison, it has some Caddy DNA, and not in a good way. I also really do not like the ad campaign for these things, touting it as a car for that mysterious common-as-hens-teeth demographic of ultra-successful young entrepreneurs. Most TSX I see around here are driven by middle aged women. Blaoting up the car and making it chromey won't make the 3/C/IS/G set run to it, nor those who "start a business, sell it, and buy another" who probably drive Ferraris, Porsches and the like..
Re: Private party vs Rentals question [mattgg1]

We are still in the 2008 model year. So a used 2009 would be as rare as hens teeth. Consequently, 22% of the cars being 2007 or newer is a lot of cars. The 07's would more than likely be, you guessed it, rental cars. Again, you lack the practical experience to have this debate. You aren't at the auction. You don't see all the people putting their hands in the air for these cars. You don't have people walking onto your lot and asking for a 1 yr or 2 yr old car. Your personal experiences and biases in no way qualify you to be an expert on this topic. I'm sorry, but there it is. If YOU don't like rentals, fine. No big deal. But, please do not for one moment assume that most used car buyers think like you do. I can assure you that they don't. Here is another thing to ponder. When the economy slows, sales of used cars goes up. Guess which type goes up the most? Yup, the 1 to 2 yr old cars. Why? Because people who buy them would like a new car, but can't talk themselves into spending new car money. So, they gravitate to the 1 yr old car at a good savings. I've seen it happen at my own store and I have seen it happen all over the industry.
