Here is an excerpt from the book on GW: On the day we visited IV, Myhrvold convened roughly a dozen of his colleagues to talk about the problem and possible solutions. They sat around a long oval conference table, Myhrvold near one end. They are a roomful of wizards, and yet without doubt Myhrvold is their Harry Potter. For the next ten or so hours, fueled by an astonishing amount of diet soda, he prodded and amplified, interjected and challenged. Everyone in the room agrees that the earth has been getting warmer and they generally suspect that human activity has something to do with it. But they also agree that the standard global-warming rhetoric in the media and political circles is oversimplified and exaggerated. Too many accounts, Myhrvold says, suffer from “people who get on their high horse and say that that our species will be exterminated.” Does he believe this? “Probably not.” When An Inconvenient Truth is mentioned, the table erupts in a sea of groans. The film’s purpose, Myhrvold believes, was “to scare the crap out of people.” Although Al Gore “isn’t technically lying,” he says, some of the nightmare scenarios Gore describes—the state of Florida disappearing under rising seas, for instance—“don’t have any basis in physical reality in any reasonable time frame. No climate model shows them happening.” But the scientific community is also at fault. The current generation of climate-prediction models are, as Lowell Wood puts it, “enormously crude.”
I made a deal on a new car for a purchase price of $18,495 minus my trade in for $8500, leaving a balance of $9995 to be paid. During the negotiations, no mention was ever made by either me nor salesman of the $500 rebate that was currently available. Since the rebate is a factory to customer incentive, (assuming I qualify for it), I am entitled to that rebate, essentially bringing my net cost down to $9495?
robr2 - Not at all - Greater Lowell. Great school. Can't say enough about all they do there. Thanks for the info - you're up at the end of Rt 3 then. My town is part of the Shawsheen Regional Vocational School and one member town threatened to pull out when they felt the Voc was recruiting their better students. They felt that the voc shouldn't be taking kids that were college bound. What a croc. That town of course is the one that is in danger of losing accreditation.
rob_m - If I may be so bold, which voc school is your son attending? Sorry Rob - I just realized this sounds stalker-ish. No need to reply. robr2 - Not at all - Greater Lowell. Great school. Can't say enough about all they do there. Kindle - now, isn't that one of the greatest things? I'm running Beta version on my Blackberry Storm and absolutely love it! Steve - yeah it was pretty scary up on the roof. All it takes is one wrong move. I hate ladders, roofs and heights in general - but given the situation, it needed to be done, and like it or not, dad had already been up there. On a sadder note, I found out on Monday morning that the husband of one of the nurses I work with fell off their roof with some serious injuries. Sometimes careful is just not enough ...
We are looking at CX-9 GT AWD, Black, Sand Leather, Moonroof and bose package which also comes with the power hatch, and there is a roof rack. Looking for the 0% financing. $37,870 MSRP (includes $750 destination fee, not boston fee) $34,887 Invoice (includes $750 destination fee not boston fee) $34,115 True Market Value via Edmmonds (includes $750 destination fee not boston fee) Also on the dealer invoice is an additional $428 for Boston (advertising fees) The best deal the dealer in Wellseley told us he could do yesterday was $35,500 for the vehicle. (plus we are still negotiating on our trade in) He said he could not go under invoice with 0% financing. And the TMV and under invoice is due to the $1000 dealer cash and you can't combine both offers. Although I have seen in this message board people getting below invoice and 0%. The the dealer also has $444 in doc fee which includes $249 for paperwork, gas ect. plus $195 which goes to the sales man (they don't make commission they get a flat $195 from each sale). Hubby and I don't feel as though we should have to pay the $195. We are heading to the Mazda in Lowell today they have a similar vehicle to compare. Thoughts is $35,500 a good deal in our area? And $444 on doc fees? Thanks for any advice and help! This board has been a great resource. Mr. and Mrs. S
