Re: wish me luck [tjc78] by stickguy on Sat Feb 11 14:27:06 PST 2012

well, so far, not looking good. no calls and no emails. weather might not have helped. I will TTT it tomorrow morning to see what happens. But I have not had the best luck in the past selling stuff. So I am getting grief already from the wife, and starting to expect the worst (as in taking a huge bath on it) which will be a double whammy since I went over budget on the new car already.

Re: Escalade [xrunner2] by kirstie_h on Fri Feb 10 09:56:24 PST 2012

A friend of mine, who is quite well off, had an older Suburban that he loved, but it was time to replace. He went to the dealership and, despite his better judgment, let himself be talked into an Escalade. He made it through fewer than 6 months before he sold it (took a bath) and bought a new Suburban. Funny what features are important to people, but one of his main gripes was that the Escalade doesn't (or didn't then) have a sunroof available. He missed that more than any other feature.

Re: "My" 2012 BMW 328i [flightnurse] by qbrozen on Thu Feb 09 10:39:44 PST 2012

You must be talking to someone else. Here is what I said: This is a prime example of why I buy used. And if you want all those options, I suggest you do the same. Reread that again and again if you think I'm preaching. "Why I buy used." And "I suggest." Only friendly advice in those words. Hell, I regretted it after I posted it because I don't actually WANT folks to follow it. I'm grateful to those that load up their new vehicles and take a bath 2 years later. The group you are talking to now [sic] the ins and out [sic] of depreciation You certainly can't speak for everyone. Actually, MOST people don't realize the depreciation of options. So, again, I was offering up a SUGGESTION, along with some historical data. You certainly don't need to gives a rat's bum about my advice. Again, that's your perogative. I didn't offer it for your exclusive benefit. By the way, you won't be selling a 4-year-old 328i for $30k. Low-mileage '08s are going for right around $20k at auction, meaning, at the most, $24k retail and $22k private party. But I'm sure you knew that.

Re: Transmission board - water damaged [thesirgke] by jkaudia6 on Wed Feb 08 10:58:13 PST 2012

Here is a link to one of several " Class Action suits" pertaining to water damage on particular VW & Audi products: http://classactionlawsuitsinthenews.com/class-action-notices/volkswagen-vw-audi-- sunroof-drain-andor-fresh-air-plenum-water-ingress-class-action-lawsuit-settleme- nt/ To the original problem poster; The best you can expect from a group action is labor cost reimbursement. Periodic maintenance of drainage systems are generally not performed by dealer service procedures unless you specifically ask that it be done as part of a regular service; Noted on a dealer service work order. Water damage to the chassis is highly unlikely as Audi chassis is a unitized platform, of very specialized legierung ( combined metals) which are highly resistant to rusting. Additionally the chassis parts, after assembly, are completely submerged in sink bath before paint primers are robotically applied, resulting in the 12 year guarantee pertaining to rust. That being the case, and as previously mentioned, used car purchase should always be approached with caution and research. Some U.S states have additional "Consumer Protection Agencies" which can provide additional help should the dealer/Manufacture route fall to to provided help. The wire and control unit damage of the transmission are residual damage caused by a lack of periodic maintenance on the drainage systems. In closing it should be said the car purchased makes you the owner of the whole car with the exception of Software and related patents, much the same as with computers. I hope this has been of general help in approaching difficulties. Perhaps your car insurance might give some additional coverage options depending on policy coverage. Edmond's resources are many, take a few minutes and browse for specific info which might be of help. Best regards JKAudi A6 :

Re: car dealer visit [fezo] by richard64 on Wed Feb 01 15:15:17 PST 2012

Progress with stem cells is amazing. A friend of mine had bone cancer diagnosed five years ago. They saved some of his own stem cells in case he went into remission. He did. They operated using his own stem cells. He's been doing great during the last year or so. Were it not for this wonderful research, he wouldn't be with us now. Though your 100 days won't be a picnic, it may not be as bad as you think. Having that TV and computer will be very nice. It will be even nicer that you can stay in touch with us here. As for your top down experiences, we have had beautiufl weather as of late. It feels more like October than January. It's also nice on the heat bill. Our house offer will be presented tonight. We'll see how much countering back and forth comes into play. It's a beautiful Georgian style built in 1950 with 4,200 Sq. Ft. of living space. It has a new designer kitchen and the three and a half baths have been beautifully remodeled. We'll see. Richard
