Sharon...I'm just outside of Cincinnati. I have many friends who work for P&G, in many capacities (including their engineering dept). And, I have many friends who work for Toyota, both in their North American HQ, which is right across the OH river from Cincinnati, in Erlanger, KY and in a suburb of Cincinnati called Blue Ash, which houses Toyota's marketing dept. I spent many years with Xerox personally, as well as with some other high profile, high tech companies, many of whom were partners with Toyota. So, I get a healthy dose of the way "big business" works, personally, socially and professionally. I'm trying to think of a way that Toyota could have screwed this up worse. And, I'm having a hard time doing so. They broke the very first rule, for any company.... LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS. Instead, Toyota dismissed their complaints. Some of those dismissals turned into accidents, some turned into injuries, and at their very worst, some turned into deaths. In many instances, they tried to blame their customers, which only made things even worse. On top of all of that, they've tried to cover up their failures. I really don't know how much worse they could have made it on themselves unless they actually went out and shot their customers.

>motorist mistake and error So you are going to say the unintended accelerations, 70%, don't occur. Jeff Davis has the North American headquarters for Engineering and Manufacturing North American, TEMA, in his district in Northern Kentucky (Erlanger). I think it's very poor taste on his part to recite the line. I suspect he'll be interviewed tomorrow or soon on a morning talk show Cincinnati radio and he'll be asked about that. Do you have any proof that the UA are due to driver error? Lots of interviewers and even the toyota Lentz admit that many of them weren't explained by mats and pedals sticking.

Really clean looking, like the owner took care of it. But, it looks like it has three different brands of tires... Did you drive up to Erlanger to check for sludge underneath the oil cap? :P

I'm currently bidding on a 2001 Aspen Silver 540i 6-speed with 111K on eBay. I'm high bidder, but it hasn't met reserve yet. It's in Erlanger, BTW... Wow looks nice, but I have to say it boggles my mind that people buy beautiful ultra-high performance sedans and put no-name house brand zippy the pinhead retread tires on it. I would try to budget a little extra for some more appropriate footwear. That's a 540i...some of the Ford Focuses come with Pirelli P6s.

Local Audi dealer has a '99 BMW 540i with 6-speed.. Asking $4900!! No mention of mileage... I'm guessing about 140K .. I'm currently bidding on a 2001 Aspen Silver 540i 6-speed with 111K on eBay. I'm high bidder, but it hasn't met reserve yet. It's in Erlanger, BTW...
