I've thumbed through that book before, and it's full of great photos. One is in front of the showroom of Gezon Motors in Grand Rapids, MI, where an old friend's '56 Packard Caribbean was delivered new.

Studebaker produced an amazing variety of vehicles, which makes the meets so interesting. If Studebaker never built passenger cars, quite a large Studebaker truck club could still exist. Too bad Studebaker did not put more effort into promoting and selling trucks. They were ahead of the most of the competition in 1949-50, but did not try to stay there. I have thought about buying this book several times and probably will soon. The back cover has photos worth seeing including a milk delivery truck http://www.amazon.com/Studebaker-Trucks-1941-1964-Photo-Archive/dp/1882256417#_

I think one thing that differentiated Stude from other independents was their production of a truck line into the '64 model year. Here's a '62 Champ with the double-wall "P1" bed that I think is a good-looking truck: http://forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/showthread.php?59295-Production-order-T-c- abs-amp-beds

Boy, you go away for a day and there are 39 posts! Being a nice guy I took my wife into NYC today - so I could go to the hospital. Doctor appointment and an MRI on my liver. Swell. You would be amazed how long half a minute lasts when they tell you to not breathe. We are indeed closing in on actually doing the transplant. Friday will be my last chemo day. More test to come but now I have to start doing all the things I should have done way earlier - give my wife all the keys to finances and such. Really I should be able to do things from the hospital for the most part. The last bone marrow test I had came in very positive. Well, other than the fact that I still need the transplant.... The results indicate I should do very well in handling the transplant along with the fact, in the doctor's words, "you're young." Haven't heard that in a long time! driver - if it isn't too small try a Golf (or better yet a GTI). Still made in Germany. Of course it will still have the reliability of a Volkswagen. If what you want is the BMW and obviously you aren't worrying about the cost of one by all means get it. No sense in getting less than what you want. A Fusion is a perfectly nice car but if you are used to BMWs I'm betting after a short time you'll be noticing that the Fusion isn't the same thing at all. I do share your concern about leaving the BMW sitting. I have a solution - when you are going back to Canada fly me down and I'll drive the BMW up to New Jersey and make sure it gets driven frequently. When you are ready to come back down I'll drive it back down for you and you can fly me back. No need for thanks. Anything for a friend.... New Jerseyphiles. Actually there is a lot I like about New Jersey. I did make the mistake of locating two hours from family among other reasons to be close to the ocean. I have found I don't go more often than I did when I lived up in teh hills and I miss the hills. All of my real friends are either up there or have moved out of state. However, once I was down here I met my wife whose family moved around a lot and she wanted to stay in one place and I'd take that deal all over again. Now her family is more scattered and the town here got too built up so at one point we will move but don't know where for sure. Part of me wants warm but part of me would move back in NW Jersey - further up than where I grew up - where you can still get a place on a few acres. That will do for now.....

Thanks for the grammar lesson, dinko. My % number was a blind number- and my comments started off by saying sorry to the rest of e country. Attack mode - Dino you lose a bone? I stand by what I said, BMW did a bad job with this release.
